Black MOB Dress?

Hi Everyone!

I went with my mom today to shop for a dress and she really liked a black dress. I like it as well but she doesn't know if it's appropriate to wear black as the mother of the bride. I told her I would rather have her in a black dress that she loves than a colored dress she doesn't. Do you guys think black is okay for a MOB?

i think she should wear whatever she wants to-- Black is an elegant color--- i told my mom the same-- and she ultimately chose black and eggplant

Is it an evening wedding?
My mom wore black and I was furious because I asked her specifically not to wear black, but if you and she agree that it than I say go for it. It's for you to decide.

The ceremony is in the afternoon but the reception is in the evening.

black is fine. my mom loves wearing black, so I said she must wear black for my wedding

I say if she feels comfortable in it and you don't mnd her wearing black then wear it away and wear it well!

FMIL is planning on wearing black.

I just want everyone to be comfortable and have a good time.

If you're okay with it, then it's fine.

My mom likes black as well, but figured since our wedding is in December, most of our guests will be in black and she wanted to stand out.

As long as she doesn't tell people she wants to wear black because 'she's losing her little girl' - like FMIL - I don't see an issue.

my mon's wearing black..I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

My Dad's wife and FMIL are both wearing black....but my colors are black and ivory. I think it is totally fine!

my wedding colors are red and white.. and obviously the groomsmen are black, white and red.. FH's mom is wearing black and white and i think my mother is wearing red. i dont think there is a right or wrong answer here, its YOUR day!
