dress anxiety..

does anyone else have anxiety over going dress shopping? Everyone keeps asking if I have a dress yet, or if ive been looking and to be honest, Im not even excited about it

anyone else feel this way? im not teeny tiny (like 12-14) and am afraid of not finding something I love, or having a hard time find dresses to try on i guess...

Re: dress anxiety..

You will do just fine! i found my dress quite early but when you know its the one, you just know!! there are a ton of dresses out there. Try on every style you possibly can, my heart was set to one style and i got something different.

Re: dress anxiety..

I could only dream of being a size 12.

I was worried too. You will be fine, you will find the perfect dress, and you will have absolutely no problems doing so.

Re: dress anxiety..

how does it work? ive heard horror stories of dresses running so small (aka if you are a 12 ... you need to order an 18) to the point where they dont carry the size, or the dress has to be special ordered. Do they carry every dress in all sizes? What are sample sizes typically? I guess i just need to get my a$$ out there, pony up and try on some dresses

Re: dress anxiety..

I feel the exact same way as you, and I’m also like a size 12…I keep telling myself I won’t start looking until I start losing some weight, but that’s going to put me so off schedule! The dress is the only thing I haven’t tackled with zeal so far in this whole process

Re: dress anxiety..

They carry all sizes. I went to the Bridal Suite in Centereach and worked with Mary.... and they had PLENTY of different sized dresses for me to try on. Some were too small, some too big.... etc.

The dress I ordered is a size 3 sizes bigger than I wear..... so, they do run weird..... do not let the size of the dress you order affect you!!!!

Trust me, anywhere you go, they will have plenty for you to try on!!!

Samples seemed to range between 10-16....places like David's have tons of sizes but they're off the rack gowns...you'll be FINE....

trust me, I dreaded dress shopping and hated every second of it....our weddings will be hard enough but just think how stunning you'll be and how much you'll amaze your FH as you walk down the aisle....

my advice: search websites and get an idea of what you like so you have some ideas but take the time to try on everything...if it's overwhelming, go by yourself first to get into it and then take friends/family...you'll be fine...you're beautiful and you'll find something perfect!

Re: dress anxiety..

I too have dress anxiety.....everyone keeps asking when I am going to go for my dress but like you said that is the only thing I am not too excited about. I have this vision in my head of what kind of dress I like and how I want it to look and I am afraid it is not going to work out as pictured.

I guess I have to get out there and just do it and hopefully I will find something i love.

Re: dress anxiety..

I was very anxious before dress shopping so I know how you feel. I wear about the same size as you but my boobs are really big, so I had to order a full size larger to accomodate them. Please don't get hung up on the sizes of the dresses. Most of the samples I tried on were a 10, but there were some 12's and 14s too. It depends on the shop you go to. Just make sure you try on lots and lots of different styles. I never thought I could wear the dress I ordered because I was going by the pic I saw in a magazine, but when I tried it on, it was amazing.

You will find something perfect!! Just take your time and be open-minded

Re: dress anxiety..

I was the queen of dress anxiety! I went to sooo many places and got so worked up about finding THE one, and making it something other people will like, and making sure the price was the lowest! I called all the stores on the East coast that carried the designer I liked, to compare prices. It got so overwhelming. I went to every sample sale I could in the city. Finally I felt myself wearing down, and I finally bought it last Fri.! I also lost a lot of weight between Feb, when I started looking, and now. I love my dress, but other people might not (you either love it or you hate it) But Im happy. So remember, its what you love and are happy with! I wish you the best of luck!!!

Re: dress anxiety..

I don't have anxiety but I'm not super thrilled to go. I don't know why. Maybe I just have too much going on, I don't know.

Re: dress anxiety..

I def. know how you feel. Im alittle bigger than you and have put off dress shopping because of having to try on small sample size dresses that Im supposed to just invision myself in. I've been trying to put it off until I lose some weight but reality is I'll never get down enough to feel comfortable dress shopping so I know it will be very overwhelming when I finally do it.

Re: dress anxiety..

I was anxious about dress shopping but felt the time was coming too close to wait any longer. They explained to me that the dresses come in smaller than normal sizes. I tried on a 12 and 14 different models . and after so many months of worrying I got the dress. It doesn't matter what size it is as long as it looks great on you.

So just go looking having in mind what you have dreamed of wearing.
