For girls who did DIY pocketfolds (BHB xpost)

I am so inspired by you girls making your own invites that I may do my own. I'm sure I will end up in a straight jacket by the end, but its worth a try.

I was checking on all the DIY sites for the pocket folders and insert cards and all and they still seem expensive.

If you don't mind sharing, what are they costing per invitation?

Also, I don't know if I am tallying up the correct stuff. What exactly do I need? I know I need the pockets, envelope, RSVP card and envelope, but do I buy the precut color stock cards and border AND inserts. OR, can I print the inserts on a heavier bond paper from staples?

See, I'm already making myself crazy.

Any advice from those who have done this?

TIA

I made my pocketfolds. The pocketfolds by themselves costed my 0.50 per pocketfold. I bought 25 sheets of 28x20 paper and was able to make 4 folds per sheet...100 sheets for $50. I used a paper cutter/scorer to make the folds and cuts and got that from office depot. I found nice paper to use as a border/background from michaels and made my RSVP and Directions inserts on my own by cutting up some cardstock and printing them out (RSVP was 3' x 5' and Dir. was 4' x 5' i think). I haven't bought my envelopes yet but I do know that I made invitations that look like the ones that are 25$ a piece and mine will be nowhere near that. I printed my invite, rsvp and directions on cardstock but I do know that you have to have a strong laser jet printer to print on that thick of paper...HTH!!!!

Re: For girls who did DIY pocketfolds (BHB xpost)

I have seen people do all of these, or just some :direction cards to reception/hotel, direction card to the church, a reception card, rsvp card, actual invite, inner envelope, and outer envelop

I didnt make the actual pocketcards myself but bought them for a little under $1.00 from cardsandpockets.com. great company

In the interest of saving money I bought cardstock from office max and cut everything manually as opposed to using the pre-cut sizes (and this was not a lot of work) The paper and ink have held up just fine for about 6 months (we like to do stuff early and get it done)

We bought our RSVP postcards, pre-printed with the stamp etc, from the post office as we werent big fans of the current postcard stamp

Overall we spent very little and planned far in advance for all of it... I'd totally suggest DIYing invites

I did the same as MrsBlesie. pix are in my album. I will be getting my envelopes from envelopemall.com and print directly on them.

Re: For girls who did DIY pocketfolds (BHB xpost)

I did a pocketfold-ish invite. Instead of folding the cardstock into a pocket and glue it, I sewed handmade paper onto the cardstock to form a pocket:
