Average Price for Rehearsal Dinner?

What is a common price per person? I need to budget for this because I have the feeling that my FH and I will end up paying for this too. We will probably be having about 30 people. Thanks ladies...Oh and if you have any suggestions for St. James, Smithtown, Port Jeff...let me know

I'm having my RD in Huntington. We are paying $37/person for 4 hours(incl tax). They gave me a list to choose the food from. Buffet dinner: 4 pastas, 6 entrees, 2 salads, bread. Wine, beer, soda unlimited. Dessert: 2 choices, coffee, cordials. We are inviting 48 people (and they should all show since they are somehow involved in the ceremony!). I know people paying less, but they are not having alcohol or doing open bar. You have to figure if everyone has 1 - 2 drinks - you're better off including it in the price. I love Bella Vita City Grill in Smithtown (but it may be pricey for a RD).
edited to say: the restaurant had cheaper prices for sit down ($7 per person less), but we wanted variety and a more casual atmosphere.

We are paying $29 per person..appetizer, salad, entree, desert, beer, wine and soda. And that includes tax and gratuity. It was by far the best price we found. Some places we looked were about $32 each but not including tax and gratuity..so that makes it more like $40 a person.

I second what the other post said about Bella Vita grill in St. James. They also have two rooms there too. We were just there for dinner. It is very good. We had our RD at The Courtyard Cafe in Ronkonkoma, Holbrook area. It was a little over $30 per person. I know that is not close to where you are having your rehersal at, but St, James, Smithtown, Port Jefferson has alot of choices. A friend of mine is getting married this spring and having his at Pasta Pasta in Port Jefferson. I have eaten there and it is very good. Good luck!

I am having a sit down dinner. It includes an appetizer, salad, pasta, main course(3 choices person chooses) dessert (3 choices person chooses), tea/coffee/soda. It is $19 a person not including tax and gratuity. I thought it was a pretty good deal. We decided to have an open bar because half of the people wont drink at all and half probably will. Its on a Wed night so I thought it would be cheaper for us to let them pick their own alcohol rather than put beer or wine on the table that people may not drink.

We're paying $55 per person for a full sit down plus about $30 per bottle of wine.
Manhattan is expensive!

I think our RD worked out to just under $40 pp. This included appetizers, salad, entree - choice off limited menu, dessert, beer/wine/soda on the table and open bar for anyone that wanted a drink. Thats the after tax and tip price.

Ours ended up around 35-36pp and that included tax and tip.

We had:

Soup or salad

A choice of four entrees (with a choice of a side dish)

Coffee and dessert

It also included beer, wine and soda..

I'm having my RD at the Wantagh Inn in Wantagh. It is right next to Mulcahey's at the RR station. They have private rooms that hold up to 100 people I think.
