NWR i`m freaked out!! (kinda long) update on job situation!(updated again!!) with new question

girls i`m freaking out here!!! i have an interview tomorrow. lemme give you some background. i have had mt job for 3 years now. i`m a vendor in waldbaums. retail is all i know. i started out working for walmart at 16 and have been in retail since. this would be a secretarial type position at a lumber yard. i`m not sure of the exact duties or hours and such but i know i am not tottaly quailified for this seeing as how i have NEVER done a job like it. but how hard can answeing the phone and responding to emails and such be??? i`m scared of change but i really need out of my job. and i want something that will be able to last and it has great benefits and all that! i`m mostly freaking out about telling my current boss that i`m quitting. i have 2 weeks vacay coming to me and i don`t want to get screwed out of getting at least one so i don`t know if he`ll let me take part of my 2 week notice as a vacation week and just paying me for the other one.....ohhh i just don`t know!!!!!!

i went to the interview and the lady was super nice! ( i always work myself up too much about these things!) from what it sounds like is i pretty much have the job. her company and another just merged so there may be new interview processes that she isn`t sure of yet so on monday i may have to go back to fill out some more paperwork and meet with the 'head secretery' she looked att he pay rate i asked for and said that was what she was thinking of hiring for anyway so that works for me!! i was like sweet!! and i`d be working m-f still so no adjusting to new days off and it`s 8-5 one thing i`m not used to is madatory hours right now i make my own but w/e 8-5 is still good!! well thats all the details for now!!!! still don`t know what i`m doing about my 2 weeks notice and vaca but i`ll figure something out!!! thanks ladies

the job called me yesterday asked for my birthday (it was on the app but i guess they didn`t feel like looking) so they can do a backgroud check (don`t ask me why i`m just going to be doing paperwork!) and told me to go pick up the forms for the drug test and go before 3 today to take it and if all goes well with that (and it will!) the job is mine.......now do i put in my 2 weeks or do i wait to the results (that i know will be fine) come back?? ohhhh and for those of you who have already read all this i put in for vacation already, i start monday so thats no worry but i don`t know if my boss will just say screw you if i call this week and say ummm yeah i`m not gonna come back after vaca.....

When i left my retail job I was paid for my banked vacation time but was not aloud to use it as part of my two weeks notice.

I have had both happen...one where I worked my last two weeks and got payed my vaca in my last check and once I just had my two week notice off......I think alot of that depends on the company and the terms you are leaving on !! any change is scary but if you want it bad enough I am sure you can do just fine!!

this may not be the best idea but put in for your vacation and give your 2 weeks while on vac.

actually that is a really good idea!! and as bad as it sounds i don`t mind screwing them over. the job has been shi**y for months! they are supposed to pay me for gas milage but they f*c*ed me over for like 6 months worth of it!!! and they just never give the materials needed to do the job. sooooo that is brilliant!!!

do you work FOR waldbaums, like in their union, or is it an outside vendor position. I was going to say, check with your union of the policy. (if youare in the union)

I agree with maybe taking your vacation before giving your notice.

no i work for the vendor company they have a contract out with waldbaums saying we`ll work for X amount of years doing this work....blah blahh

the interview is at 3 on 110 in farmigdale and i live in coram what time do you think i should leave???
