funniest wedding gifts you ever received so far
Well...i open the mail today and noticed an RSVP envelope. Puzzled as to why I was receiving an RSVP so late, I hurried and opened it. Oh its a NO, they are not coming. Enclosed with the response was an additional piece of paper. Upon reading what a suprise I discovered...A $50 Savings Bond!Thats right, you read it right -- a savings bond. I was a bit irrirated but after finding out that is from a future grand mother in law's friend in Boynton Beach, FL, I just laughed and appreciated the generosity.
Oh well, looksl ike I will have to wait 7 years before we can spend it.

Re: funniest wedding gifts you ever received so far
that's funny! One of my favorites was from a couple - my mom's friend and her jerk boyfriend. In the card were TWO checks. One from her in the amount of $100 and one from him in the amount of $100. Wasn't that just WEIRD? If they're so obsessed with what's mine is mine...why didn't they have one person write a check and the other reimburse them?

I got a talking vibrator and a book about how to give the perfect BJ from my aunt at my shower
It was (obviously) a gag gift

OMG! Was this opened in front of your guests or was it in the wishing well? My FH had a stupid grin on his face when I told him. He now thinks this site rocks

We haven't gotten much yet, but in a no RSVP from someone we though was coming they included a $180 check which was very nice of them but we have yet to discover the significance behind the number. Not so much funny but just kinda odd.

Re: funniest wedding gifts you ever received so far
Well, it was in the wishing well, but my aunt made sure I opened it and passed it around. I told my grandmother to close her eyes!! Then they made me read a 'tip' from the BJ book....It was pretty embarrassing.Later on back at my apartment, I pulled them out to show FH in front of my parents (they really don't care- my mom was there and had already told my dad all about it). His face was SOOOO red
and he still yells at me for embarrassing him in front of his FFIL.
LOL
When you open the box to the vibrator it says
'Can't you get a real man?'
'You look gorgeous tonight'
and a few other things....

if the person invited was jewish, or you or your FH are, it's probably because the #18 has a lot of significance in the jewish religion. that's the only thing i can think of.

FH is but the RSVP was from one of my dad's friends who has never met FH and I haven't seen in many many years.
He might be Jewish but I don't know. I know 36 is a significant # because FH's grandma is Jewish and sends him a $36 check for every birthday for that reason. I will have to look into the 18/180 thing.

Ok well I just found this about 18
'For example, the number 18 is very significant, because it is the numerical value of the word Chai, meaning life. Donations to Jewish charities are routinely made in denominations of 18 for that reason.'
His grandma's 36's is a denomination of 18 now I guess I just have to double check with dad if his friend is Jewish to solve this riddle of whether or not the 180 is related to that.

We got a set of sheets and a knife sharpener off our registry. Both very nice and generous gifts, and probably someone who had a set amount in mind that they wanted to spend, but taken together, it sends kind of a funny message

my mom's friends also sent $36 checks to me and my sisters too - i think doubling the 18 is supposed to make the number luckier.

Re: funniest wedding gifts you ever received so far
18 = 'Chai'So 36 is considered 'Double Chai' or double the good luck.
And the 180 is just another multiple of 18.
