Re: Instructions for DIY high Centerpiece with live flowers??

yeah just get ALOT of info on the flowers you want to use first...i did this for my e-party and it really became a big pain...When i bought the flowers i want, they come closed so you have to take good care of them for a few days before to make sure they bloom properly...Well the flowers i got had to stay in a very warm climate so we had to have our heat up on full blast all the time. Not only that but the stems were hallow so you have to be careful they dont bend, in order to do so we had to get bamboo sticks and put them inside each one...I CONSTANTLY had to change the water bc it had to stay in warm water so once the water got cold i had to empty out all the vases and change the water for all of them, with that many flowers it can become a pain. I would run home after work bc i was so worried about the flowers. Then transporting them there was a pain.

So first find out about the type of flower you are using

Re: Instructions for DIY high Centerpiece with live flowers??

Wow you are going to attempt it? that is great. Let me know how it works out...I dont think that I would have the patience...like I would enjoy doing it at first but then...I would race to the finish.

Good luck and hopefully someone will have directions.

I would think you would have to use moss or absorbing foam and work from the inside out...but I am not a floral designer.

Here are some pics of what I would like to achieve, maybe not as big but something like these.

I'm thinking I could save $ by using hydegeas because they are big and take up a lot of room with one stem and then mix roses in with it.

Anyone have any pointers for me??

Re: Instructions for DIY high Centerpiece with live flowers??

As you can see from the one of the pictures the flowers are sitting in a bowl that probably has floral foam (to keep flowers hydrated) on top of a pedestal.

I'm trying to find a company to sell or rent pedestals to me.

Re: Instructions for DIY high Centerpiece with live flowers??

You could probably make silk ones for cheaper and then you could make them before hand. Some silk ones look very real.

But as for real ones I dont know.. Good Luck though!

Re: Instructions for DIY high Centerpiece with live flowers??

I will...I'm confused if these are rental prices or the price to buy them...if this is the price to buy them then this is a steal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The company is closed now, but I AM going to call them on monday to check if this is a rental or not. Either way I'm going to get one to make myself a sample CP!!! I'm so excited.

I found it buy doing a google search on CP rentals. I could end up getting my high centerpieces and doing them myself with the help of friends for a fraction of the price!!
