Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
I was just remembering a really touching moment from my wedding - it still brings tears to my eyes.I have two dads, my real dad and my stepdad. But my mom is the one who has raised us really and I was upset about not having her walk me down the aisle (I love my dads and had them both escort me down the aisle). So I decided that instead of picking one dad to dance with at the reception or dancing with both, that I would dance with my mom instead.
So right after my first dance with DH, they called my mom out and played the song (Veronica by Christian Castro - a latin artist with a very famous latin actress mom; he wrote this song as a dedication to her and the words are just beautiful). Literally the song started playing and my mom and I hugged and I just started crying! It was such an emotional moment. I am the only daughter and I lived with my mom until that very day so not only was I getting married that day, I was also leaving home.
My grandmother, aunts, uncle, and some friends even cried! People came up to me and told me what an emotional and touching moment it was. Someone gave us a copy of the video they took at our wedding and when I saw that again, I got teary eyed. I really love my mom!
Here are non pro pics from my dance with my mom:

Anyone else had a touching moment at the wedding (other than the usual emotional moments like vows, first dance, etc)?

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
after my husband and I said our vows to each other, the priest called my 7 year old to the alter...Eric and I got down to his level and each held his hands..
My husband and my son repeated vows to each other (that I wrote)
not a dry eye in the church... I cant wait to see pictures.
The smile on my son's face was ENORMOUS..

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
Oh Yesenia! That is beautiful!! Our Father/Daughter dance was the same way!My Dad surprised me by picking out our song! He called my DJ a few weeks before the wedding & told him his request.
When it came time for our dance, I was so surprised that he picked 'Unforgettable' - Natalie/Nat King Cole. As soon as we embrassed my Dad became hysterical (I am tearing up as I am typing this now).
He just kept repeating over & over again how much he loved me, that I am his world and that he doesn't know what he would do without me! Everyone around us was in tears! Its a moment I will never forget! DH had to bring me outside afterwards b/c I was hysterical!
As soon as we began to dance:

Definitely my dance with dad-we were never close when I was growing up but when I met DH we got close. My mom cried AND my dad cried...which is NOT my fathers personality at all
Of course Dad will say he didnt cry

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
I recorded a version of our wedding song and as a surprise for DH had them play it for our first dance. He was def all teary eyed hearing me sing the words of the song we had picked out. There are also plenty of pics of my mother crying on the side of the dance floor. Everyone kept coming up to me all night to tell me what a beautiful job I did and how unusual and special it was.

Probbably when I danced with my dad's brother. My dad passed away last year and it was really hard not having him there. I don't have a picture but I'll post it when I get it.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
Mine was during my dance with my dad. He is completely unemotional normally, but at one point he stopped and just said 'I'm so glad I am here for this' which had special meaning and truth as he had a very risky brain operation last summer and was in a coma for almost 2 weeks where we had no idea what was going to happen (he's fine now :)). We both started to cry and neither of us ever cry so it was a big deal!Caroline, the vows with your son is an adorable idea, it must have been such a great moment!

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
Well, after my dad's heart surgery, him walking me down the aisle and my dance with him were very emotional. Also, my DH and I wrote letters about each other for our priest (Why Todd? and Why Kara?) Our priest read them aloud during the ceremony - the whole things. We hadn't heard them and didn't know what the other had written. There was hardly a dry eye in the church.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
my mom breaking down as she and my dad walked me down the aisle was pretty emotional... but the most touching moment at my wedding (and my favorite memory, by far) was DH's little sister singing 'bless the broken road' to us, a capella. she has an outstanding voice but is nototiously shy, so this surprise was a double one, and it was so meaningful.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
I had soooo many! But I'd have to say my Daddy walking me down the isle and our first dance rank up there!! We are very close and both very emotional people! I love these pics of our 1st dance and then the one of my mom watching us! The 1st dance got so emotional that we called my Mom in to dance with us!!

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
My sisters' toast was all about how my father, who passed away in 04, was surely watching down on me, touched by all of the ways that I incorporated him into our day (choosing to marry on LI where he lived though I live PA, having Ed Travers sing Jimmy Buffett songs for the CH...his fav, butterfly favors that represent the memory of him, memory candle, etc....) and they ended by telling the story of how when my oldest sister were conceived, if she was a girl, they'd name her Rita, if it was a boy...Nathan. And then when their second child came along, if she was a girl, they'd name her Christine, if it was a boy...Nathan. When I came along, if I was a girl, they'd name me Jessica, if I was a boy...Nathan. My dad always wanted a son named Nathan. Of course, they got their third daughter with me!...Well, God has mysterious ways of working and my dad finally got his son Nathan (Nathan is my DH!). I always felt he had a hand it, it was like once he passed away he helped send me Nate. My sisters, me, DH, my mom...we were all crying. Its hard to describe or remember word for word but it was so touching.
Also meant so much to me to dance with my grandfather.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?
I wish that I had a picture of my moment. I would have to say that the most touching moment from my wedding was during our ceremony. Rev. Tom was giving his homily and I was looking into DH's eyes and he started to cry and then I started to cry. He took a tissue out of his pocket and I took it from him and wiped the tears from his eyes and then wiped my years. When my MIL saw this she started to cry and so did a couple of other family memners. My second touching moment was out first dance when DH was singing our wedding song to me as we were dancing.
