Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

I had a carriage take us to our reception hall... When we were riding in it.. we rode by a little girl who was waving at us! She said 'Mom look a princess'...then after i waved to her she started to bouncing up and down saying 'Wow..mom its Cinderella, Its Cinderella'...i was so happy ....

Its was the most geniune thing i heard all day.... She was so excited about it...and it made me feel like i was a princess......

Not a tear jerker but it was still nice to hear...

My sisters' toast was all about how my father, who passed away in 04, was surely watching down on me, touched by all of the ways that I incorporated him into our day (choosing to marry on LI where he lived though I live PA, having Ed Travers sing Jimmy Buffett songs for the CH...his fav, butterfly favors that represent the memory of him, memory candle, etc....) and they ended by telling the story of how when my oldest sister were conceived, if she was a girl, they'd name her Rita, if it was a boy...Nathan. And then when their second child came along, if she was a girl, they'd name her Christine, if it was a boy...Nathan. When I came along, if I was a girl, they'd name me Jessica, if I was a boy...Nathan. My dad always wanted a son named Nathan. Of course, they got their third daughter with me!...Well, God has mysterious ways of working and my dad finally got his son Nathan (Nathan is my DH!). I always felt he had a hand it, it was like once he passed away he helped send me Nate. My sisters, me, DH, my mom...we were all crying. Its hard to describe or remember word for word but it was so touching.

You have me in tears!! Your Dad def sent you Nathan!! I love your story!

Me too!!

Me too!!!!

I know!! Imagine me on my wedding day hearing that. It hit me out of nowhere bc I wasnt expecting them to talk about that story, but there is nothing else in the world I wouldve wanted to hear on that day. It was so special!! Nate was all emotional. We have talked about that story but to hear it in that context was a different experience.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

right before I walked down the aisle my mom was so choked up- she told me some very special thoughts and that was the moment when I was like -oh my- this is really it. My mom is such a sap, I could be one as well.

Another touching moment is during the speeches- My MOH lost her mom less than a week before the wedding and other than the service they did not attend the reception. They wrote such a beautiful speech and with all that we were going through the week before the wedding it was so heart felt- the MC read the speech. It was a bittersweet day- her mom was like my second mom- I know that she was still with me that day.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

i've got a few that really stand out:

1) i'm a violinist and wanted a string quartet for the cocktail hour. i mentioned this to my parents in passing one day and the next time i brought it up, my dad was like, oh i already booked a quartet! i was a little confused that they would do it and not tell me, but i didn't think anything of it. so the wedding rolls around and a little bit before the ceremony started, my parents dragged me out of the bridal suite to say hi to someone. . .it was my violin teacher, who i studied with for 7 yrs, who convinced me to go to ithaca, which is where i met DH. i hadn't seen him or talked to him since my freshman year in college (8 yrs ago!), so when i realized who they hired for the string quartet, i pretty much became hysterical. it was an awesome surprise!!

2) my dad kept insisting he was going to cry the entire day, especially walking me down the aisle. he didn't. he waited until it was just us back in the bridal suite right after the ceremony. he hugged me and started to cry and that's only the 2nd time i've ever seen him cry.

3) my cousin and i are super close. we're only 9 months apart, grew up together in NY and then both moved to AZ. we joke around that we're really twins, not cousins. he went through a bunch of sh!t a few years ago and i dropped everything to be with him. after the ceremony, he came up to me, crying, telling me how much it meant to him that i was there for him during that time.

and now i'm crying

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

We had a couple of touch moments on 'Our Wedding Day'.

I got emotional when we pulled up to West Sayville Country Club because I felt my dad there.
My dad passed away eleven years ago but I knew he would be there is his own way on 'Our Very Special Day'. I am so glad that I decided on the Rolls Royce for myself because Limo Driver did not let anyone near me until I was able to calm down.

We saw butterflies flying around. So, we knew that our loved ones that passed were there watching over us.

The photo montage got us also. I saw the pictures of me and my family with dad and got tears in my eyes. Michael held on to me.

Our wedding was very truly beautiful!!!

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

even though DH and i took pics before the ceremony and he saw me many times - he was completely BAWLING when i walked down the aisle. like his face was soaked and he was nearly sobbing. in the 8 years weve been together he has cried TWICE that i know of - one of which was over sports. so to see him up there SO emotional in front of 200 people was the icing on my wedding cake

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

I was a crying mess the whole wedding!

With everything that happened with Steve's accident just 2 months prior... it was a very emotional day. The thought of almost not having been able to marry him made the whole day that much more emotional!

it really hit us during the ceremony...

I cried when I danced with my dad...

during the toasts...

during steve's dance with his mom...

when we first saw each other...

haha, i was happy i swear! they were just tears of joy, emotion, happiness... and thankfulness that this day could even happen!!!

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

Also, my DH and I wrote letters about each other for our priest (Why Todd? and Why Kara?) Our priest read them aloud during the ceremony - the whole things. We hadn't heard them and didn't know what the other had written. There was hardly a dry eye in the church.

Kara: that is very sweet. Did you & DH have to ask the priest to do this, or was it his idea. I saw that at a wedding we went to right before ours and loved. The wierdo priest that did my ceremony would've been clueless if I asked him to do this cause he screwed everything up.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

i had a lot of touching moments throughout our day... we received our proofs back and when my father was giving me away he gave DH a huge hug and whispered in his ear to please take care of his girl...

plus the dance with my dad and then because my biological mother is not in my life and i have a wonderful stepmom (who has been more like a mom than my biological mom has ever been) I surprised her with a song ~ I am blessed to call you mother...

I am sure I can think of a whole bunch more...

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

Mine was actually before my wedding. We were taking pics in the lobby at the hotel while the driver packed up the limo. My photographer stopped for a second to get himself organized after he posed my little sis (MOH) & me in front of the fireplace. My sister leaned over & gave me a kiss on the cheek & said 'I love you sissy.' That was the first time all day that I just couldn't hold back & I started crying so hard. My sister was my best friend when we were kids & we have grown apart as we've grown up. We're still close, but it's just not the same as when we were kids so that moment meant so much to me.

Re: Touching moment at wedding ... yours?

Ok, I have lost both of my Parents.
So, I said...I refuse to cry on this day. I had many days that I cried missing them.
I was determined to make this a happy day! No Crying allowed for me!

Well, I did very well, until...... My Fathers Best friend asked me to dance. They had know each other since kindergarten. He watched me grow up and fall love with My Husband. I burst into tears while we were dancing.

I loved this man as much as my father!
