The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

So, I made an appointment to go see the Swan Club on Friday. The person who helped me....I believe her name is Girana...was very nice and made me feel good when I called. She was very pleasant and accommodating. She really put my mind at ease: )

I also called the Venetian Yacht Club to make an appointment for Friday, but the guy....Bob...well, although informative, he was not the most pleasant. I don't know, but have you ever spoken to somebody and made you feel like he/she would stress you over anything. Well.....that is the feeling he gave me I really don't need that! Has anybody encountered that before?

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

Yes I have encountered that but don't let the person on the phone feel that way. I would still recommend going to see them. Sometimes the people on the phone don't always know.

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

I met with Bill and got the same vibe. He was very informative..but had a bit of an air about him. I tried to negotiate the smallest thing, and he incinuated that if I was picking a hall based on 'add on's' I wasnt where I should be.
Long story short..i went to westbury manor...LOVED the BM Felicia...who is amazing, and had a full tasting soup to nuts in their restaurant. DELICOUS.
you should check it out!!
I also visited CLM, VIP, Fountainhead, Milleridge Cottage, Swan Club, Fox Hollow, Terrace on the Park.... if you have any questions feel free to fm me.

While I haven't been to either the Swan Club or VYC, I just got married at Woodbury Country Club 2 weeks ago, and they were phenomenal. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious (according to all the guests it was delicious, I unfortunately didn't have time to try any of it!) and the grounds are beautiful. Our bridal attendant (Lauren) was amazing, and our Maitre'D (Kathy) and banquet managers (Mike and Bob) were also fantastic. I can't rave enough about WCC!

We did look at Fox Hollow, and while we loved their larger room, we weren't happy with the banquet manager (he was a HUGE scheister), and the room they were offering us was dark and looked kinda like a basement. However FH is an awesome place to get married overall - their food is delicious, and like I mentioned before, their larger room, and the wintergarden pavillion are beautiful!

If you have any questions about WCC, feel free to fm me! Lots of luck with your RH search!

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

I got the same vibe when i called VYC...i called 3 times and nobody called back..finally i called again and got an appointment with Daisy. We went and met her and she was not very accomodating at all...she said since our party wasnt a certain size that they would not be able to allow us to have a ceremony there because they would not let us use the big room...She just wasnt pleasant and made us feel unimportant. We had fallen in love with CLM before that and wanted to just double check VYC to be sure...no comparison between the two. Lou and Nick at CLM will treat you like family. They are wonderful!

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

Funny you mentioned that about Bill. When I visited VYC (one of 15 places I looked at), my mom and I got the same impression. And how many times did he mention the 5 million dollar renovation the place got? Oh well. VYC didn't impress me.

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

Thank you all I am so glad I am not the only one that felt that way about Bill. He did say that I could not have the ceremony at the Venetian and will have to have it somewhere else. Didn't even seem to be sorry or interested, but kind of made me feel I was not good enough. He kept mentioning what was the minimum people I could have. Oh well

08er crashing...

we had the same feeling about him. I heard about the renovations like 10 times

He told us that we could have our ceremony there at 830 pm. CH from 9 to 10 and the reception from 10-2. he then said that we could add the vienesse hour so the reception could go until 3- ...um...who would stay that long at a wedding???

I looked at him and said ' i can add 2 hrs of over time and we can have the sun set and sun rise at the same function'

He got annoyed with me after that.

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

I'd also look at the Riviera and the Thatched Cottage -- both on the water. I went to the Swan Club, Harbor Club, and CLM as well, and of all the places on the water I looked at, VYC was the most expensive. All the places are beautiful, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. When I was stressing over choosing a place, I took a step back and said to myself, 'If I went to a wedding at any of these places, I'd say it was beautiful'. There will always be one thing you like better at another place, but they are all very nice. Check them all out, go with your gut and budget! Have fun looking at the places.

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

My friend got married at the VYC & it was soooo nice. When I started looking for a place they were one of the first on my list but after leaving 3 messages & 2 emails, no one called me back so I crossed them off the list.
I loved the swan club, they were very negotiable & everything went great. They gave us great service, really good food and they remembered all the little details I asked them to. You really get so much for your $ there.

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

Wow, I have to say I am shocked! I booked my wedding with Bill in April 06, he was nothing but accomodating. I bothered him several times over email and phone calls, and always got a response in a reasonable amount of time. Bill was an absolute dream to work with. As far as not having a ceremony there...that doesn't seem like the correct infomation. Fellow LIW'ers ik1& laural2979 had their ceremony there over the summer. Unless they recently stopped for whatever reason, I beleive that information is correct.

I am sorry that you all had such unpleasant experiences...not that I am making excuses for them but business has majorly increased since they have completed their renovations. I assure you my wedding day was perfect at the VYC. My BM Bill was superb, along with the bridal attendent and maitre'd.

I do hope that you all meet with the VYC.

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

This is all so odd to me. I am booked at th VYC and Bill has literally bent over backwards to accomodate me in every way possible. I went to a bunch of other places and no one treated me with the respect Bill did. Bill is a true professional and I trust him 100% to put on the wedding of my dreams

Re: The Swan Club and the Venetian Yacht Club

Like anything in life, people are different and it depends upon your personalities who you click with and feel comfortable with. There's a BM in particular that I see many people say many good things about but I personally hated and got a horrible feeling from him. I saw 25 different RH's VYC being my first and nothing compared to it (in my eyes) and no BM was as personable and accommodating as Giulio was over there. Even now, 9 times out of 10 when I drop by there unannounced to drop off my payments (I don't mail them so I can go and gawk at the place) and he's more than willing to sit down with me and chat with me, show me anything new they've done to the place. I'm never rushed, I always get calls back and emails back very quickly.
