NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

How did/are you getting rid of it?

I've been working out for over a year now (intensely for 8months). I have gone down 1.5-2 pant sizes BUT I can not lose the 'spare tire.' My stomach is big and flabby. I do 435 sit ups 3 days a week (TOTAL OF 1305 sit ups/week).

I know this is NWR but I'm in a lose...I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance for all your help. I'm trying to get ready for the HM.

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

Do u do cardio? Like running or a tradmill? That helps!

(Not that I do cardio either----but I should!).

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

And also what you eat plays a big factor--cut out white carbs--really only try whole wheat, fruit and veggies, maybe cut back on calories--that helped me

I vote for cardio as well!! Try pilates as well. It's great for toning.

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

Honestly it won't matter how much you work out. Unless you change your diet more, you won't see the difference in the belly/waitline area. That's how it happened for me. Try eating some more salads, less starch and see what happens

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

i would say a combination of varying your diet (make sure you get plenty of fruits and veggies--reduce complex carb intake); increase water throughout the day, increase cardio. That should definitely help!

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

Thank you.

I do alot of cardio. At least what I think is alot. 40mins on the treadmill walking/running 3days/week and 30mins on the treadmill 2days/week walking uphill (10%incline). In addition, I do 2-3daysof weights for 45mins and my abs 3days.

So basically it's 1.5/day of cardio & weights. I do eat healthy. May be I'm just mean to have a BIG belly

Thank you again ladies

tina you can try doing the elipitcal machine without using your arms (like without using the handles)....it will force you to keep your balance while you are getting your cardio workout - and when you keep your balance you are using your core muscles without even realizing it.....maybe you can try doing that and see if you notice any changes....

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

CARDIO, PILATES and LOTS OF WATER. sometimes situps become mondane once ur body has built up the strength for them. there are some GREAT pilates moves u could do to add variation & challenge ur body...add that to cardio & water and voila I also do intervals with my cardio...i'll do 15minutes on the treadmill - 5minutes regular, 5minutes with a huge incline, 5minutes back to regular...then another 15 on the eliptical, then 15 on the bike. This keeps ur heartrate moving & challenged. then i do my pilates moves :) i bought the Rapid Results 10 minute solutions....got it right in stop & shop...i love it. especially the stomach exercises...now i just take the moves i like to the gym & do a ton of them!

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

Honestly I know this might sound crazy but it works for me, when I really want to lose some weight. I eat the same things every day. Fiber one with skim milk and blueberries, egg white omelet with zucchini and mushrooms, snack on carrots and hummus, a salad before I touch dinner and then something sensible for dinner, and later a jello sugar free pudding snacks. If I get hungry in between a yogurt almonds or and apple. Sugar is the real problem. So try to stay away. Granted I can only do this for like three Weeks then I give in but I start up again the next week SO it kinda works. Increase your cardio add more running (really helps). The elliptical is my fav!

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

ps: i noticed u said u run for 40minutes...and two days a week u do an incline...try to vary it in every session like i stated above. if u do random inclines & vary machines it makes a BIG difference. also, get foods that help burn fat. LOTS of berries...blueberries, strawberries, rasberries - mix them into some non-fat plain yogurt if u'd like :) snack on nuts, cheddar cheese instead of american...and ONLY GOOD CARBS!(ugh my biggest challenge!) but i'm telling u - varying ur routine will make a HUGE difference. Whenever my weight starts to plateau or i see myself losing tone i change it up.

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

Have you tried other ab exercises? I know soccer crunches kick your but, it's almost like doing a squat laying down, but you bring your whole body in and out. Other than that, it is all a mystery to me.
Thanks for all the good advice ladies!

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

Thank you Ladies. This is awesome information. I'm going to really focus on my eating.

Someone asked if I do ab exercises (sorry I forgot who asked)...yes, I do the basic crunch, lying leg raises, russian twists & oblique side crunches. I'll have to try something different.

I also have winsor pilates...I'm going to try to put that into my routine.

Thanks again

Re: NWR: 'Love Handles', 'Spare Tire', Belly Fat

STOP DRINKING DIET DRINKS!!!!!! Diet soda will hold on to fat deposits, particularly on your a$$ stomach and hips. ITs makes a big difference. Also drink LOTS of water and increase the intensity and duration of your cardio. I hate to say it too but you're not working out enough. You should add another day in if you really want to burn some fat.

If you REALLY want to get rid of it fast then cut out carbs...that should do it....good luck!
