Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
I can tell you that my sister has been on it for 8 months and has lost 51 pounds. She has been on every diet you could imagine and this one was it for her. She also walks an hour on the tread mill every day. She started out doing 10 min. and worked up to the hour. She said the first 2 weeks were tough, but like anything, once you get the hang of it (counting the points) it was no problem.Drink lots and lots of water!!!!
Good Luck to you!!! Keep us posted on how your doing!!

Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
We're going in Queens. There is a weight watchers in Metro Mall and we're joining that one.I am a little excited about this. Brians mom gave us a cool weight watchers cook book so I plan on using that to make our meals.

Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
Chippa, I went to a first meeting yesterday, but felt very discouraged b/c I am not overweight and don't need to lose a lot. I guess be careful about bad group leaders, and take everything they say with a grain of salt if your're determined to lose weight with them.

Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
Alina I am in the same boat as you. I dont need to lose a lot. Brians cousin doesnt want to stay for the meetings, but I do. Just to get an idea of what to expect and how the leaders are. I have so much junk food at home I am cleaning out the fridge tonight and picking up a box of special k cereal from BJ's.my downfall is i use whole milk and not skim so i have to get in the habit of using skim milk

Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
Chippa, I use 1% or 2% milk. I don't drink enough of it to be worried, and the taste isn't as bad as skim. I refuse to use anything less than whole milk for my coffee though (btw, if you use 1/4 of a cup of whole milk with plain coffee, its only one weightwatchers point, no biggie)

Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
I joined yesterday too, and I dont have a lot of weight to lose either. The thing that the leader said though was that the less you have to lose, the slower it comes off. So I want to lose 20 lbs in total. SOmeone who needs to lose 80 lbs will lose 20 lbs a lot faster than I will. So I think we are all have different challenges.I was a bit discouraged last nigt, as it seems hard to account for foods while cooking. I dont measure, so when I poured in olive oil, I had no idea how many points that was. I am not sure how well I will account for everything, esp. when I cook or eat out and do not go straight from the meal suggestions that they give you.

Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
I tried WW for about a month and did lose some weight. I thought the meetings were great - we had 2 leaders and they were both good. i'm just not disciplined enough to stick to the points. I'll give it another try soon. I really do think it's the smartest way to lose weight, or as they say 'learn to manage food, just like learning to manage money.Sigh...4 months til my wedding..i'd like to lose 10-15 lbs before I start my fittings . I'm afraid if I keep losing weight too close to the wedding, I'll have to pay for endless alterations!

Has anyone tried doing it without actually joining? I think FH and I are going to try it. We got all the materials from his aunt.

Re: Joining Weight watchers tomorrow
I never have luck doing it by myself. I think the fear of the WW woman looking at me disapprovingly when the scale goes up, is the motivation that I need!! Doing it by mysef - I cheat. If you and FI keep each other on track, that'll work!Good Luck!!
