Gift for new mom....

A good friend of mine just had a baby girl (2 weeks ago) and I have yet to go out and get her something. (I bought her the baby's bedding for the baby shower).
What is a must have for new moms?? She had a baby shower already so she has all the necessities, I'm just trying to get her something that she'll LOVE!

Thanks for your help!

Re: Gift for new mom....

My friend joked (1/2 seriouslly) that when she has a baby I must show up w. Lasagna or Baked Ziti.

A frame is a nice gift. I know some people have alot. But when you have a baby there is NEVER enough photos in the house!

Re: Gift for new mom....

I have had a few friends who have recently given birth and the food thing is true - the best gift my siser said was food sent over for her and hubby -
I have heard that you don't have any time to shop never mind cook - if you know a local place by her house you can call them - and they can contact your friend and they will let them know of your gift - I think it's a great idea and I am sure it will be appreciated.
I'm sure she has all that she needs for the baby from her shower -

Re: Gift for new mom....

I have another idea if you don't like the food -
something nice for her such as...
some lounging clothes that look nice - I have also read in the books that you give birth and all of a sudden all the attention is on the baby and I'm sure she would appreciate a nice gift just for her - something she can answer the door in and feel confortable but also look nice - Victoria Secret has nice drawstring pants with a nice long sleeve T shirt -

Re: Gift for new mom....

Why dont you offer some of your time? A new mom could sleep and recover while you sit with the new baby. When DD was little that would have been the best gift someone could have given me!

Re: Gift for new mom....

how about a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure (to be used in later months of course)...
cute pj's is a good idea...
if she doesnt have a SNAP-n-go stroller that is gREAT to have in ADDITION to a stroller...if she is a SAHM especially, or if she travels/shops with bby alone, its great. its lightweight and the carseat snaps right into it. its my favorite item right now !
or im looking to buy a bottlewarmer that can plug into the car (B R US doesnt have it, you can find it by doing a search on yahoo. 'bottle warmer for car ?')
i'll think of some more things......

Re: Gift for new mom....

i would suggest food..or some of your time. Prob could use the companionship as well as someone to do some laundry or food shopping for her

Re: Gift for new mom....

If she does not have 'What to Expect the first year' I think it is a great gift. I had a friend bring it to me in the hospital and I have been reading it ever since. Any other book on parenting might be apprecuated. I also got a helpful book called 'Sleeping through the night'.

Re: Gift for new mom....

These are all great suggestions....I think I might do all of them! She's definitely overwhelmed and could use some time off -- well an hour or two. Thank you so much for all these ideas :)
