any carlyle on the green brides?
we just went to the carlyle on saturday and fell in love with the place. the only problem is the cost of the wedding. i was wondering if anyone was able to haggle the price on the valet parking or ceremony.i also want to know if anyone has any positive or negative comments on the place.
thanks!

Re: any carlyle on the green brides?
Me! Me! Me! There are another 3-4 of us around as well. I was able to negotiate a lot off the price by going with a Sunday afternoon instead of Saturday night. (It was like $75/pp less!!!) We had a June wedding, and having a day time wedding there was so breathtaking -- with all the windows, it is so beautiful...Anyhow, whatever day of the week you choose, they are fabulous, and you will be very happy. The food is great, service amazing, and you already know how elegant the rooms are. I had my ceremony there as well, we held it inside if you have any questions about that...
Let me know if you have any more detailed questions.

I am too! 9/19/04. I am very happy with Carlyle. I know the food is great and it's close to my house. If you feel the price is an issue, please consider how much you want to pay for your vendors before you make any decisions!!Eat at the restaurant there, The Oak Room. The food is the same, delicious!

Re: any carlyle on the green brides?
I am a carlyle bride. I am getting married 1/31 and I was able to get it for $100/pp for a Friday night. I got them to bring the ceremony down to $400. If you have it off season you can get them to come down a lot- I know they wanted $140/pp for the Saturday night in January- and that was something we couldn't do- so we did the Friday- even though we could have afforded a Saturday night some where else, I just had to go with them.

Re: any carlyle on the green brides?
thanks for your comments. you really made me feel better knowing that we might be able to go down in price on some things. we are having a hard time selling this place to the three sets of parents that are paying for the wedding. the only problem we might run into is that the day we want ins july 3rd, and since it is a holiday weekend we might not get much slack.thanks for the feedback

Re: any carlyle on the green brides?
I'm a past Carlyle bride, and LOVED it there! You can definitley haggle down some of the prices there, so don't settle for full price. They are expensive, but well worth the money. They take care of EVERYTHING for you on your wedding day, and as Valenia said... the food, service, and rooms are amazing. Feel free to ask us more questions if you have any. Good luck!PS-- my wedding was on a holiday weekend too, Columbus day..... so you never know!

Re: any carlyle on the green brides?
I got married November 10th at Carlyle. I didn't find them very negotiable, but they did throw in a few extras. My wedding was spectacular as far as the guests were concerned, although there were a few things I wasn't happy with. Still, I think Carlyle is fabulous and actually what they give you for the money, isn't bad. For example, cocktail hour, you get 6 stations for 200 people. I went to a wedding at Flowerfield and they had 2 stations. I also had the desert cafe which was an amazing selection of outrageous deserts and that was included in the price. Most places charge extra for the Vienese table. Like Valenia and Octobergirl, my wedding was a Sunday afternoon which was significantly less expensive than a Saturday night, but comparable to a Friday night. I ended up loving the way the room looked during the day in the fall.

Re: any carlyle on the green brides?
We got about $15 (I think) off the per person rate for our Sunday afternoon reception. Also, we got the 'specialty' cake thrown in. I know cakes are normally included, but just be careful about what you pick out. anything non-round is extra, which we didn't know, but they ended up giving that to us too.I cant remember the rest of our details and what got thrown in for free, but I do know that we had 10 passed hors d'oeuvres and 8 stations for 230 guests. There was so much food!
Let us know when you decide!

No way that I know other then getting yourself invited to someone's wedding -- but take our word for it -- the food is EXCELLENT.

You know, I didn't pay for my food... they paid for us to eat in the Oak Room and we ate apps, entrees, etc.
