Moving tips, this way please...........UPDATED!!!!!

1. Don't assume the management has cleaned!!!!
Look for eeewww in closet tracts,woodwork over doorways,under appliances,inside appliances, and behind closet doors, especially on the backs of slatted doors.
2. Clean the kitchen cabinets, pantry, frig., and stove, before putting food, and clean dishes away.
3.Things I've found helpful to have with, when moving.
Toilet paper
Paper towels
Hand soap
Cleaning supplies, including metal cleaner/SOS pads
Q-TIPS and old toothbrushes to clean crevices
Plastic runners to protect carpets
Vacuum, broom, dustpan
Lightbulbs/lamps
Step ladder
Hammer
Picture hanging kits
Bug/Bee spray
Trash can/trash bags
Scissors
Shelf liner

Big moving men to move the stuff for you. After moving 3 times in 2 years, my back is killing me.

Paint BEFORE moving furniture in.

Always test the flush and the sinks and the showers... make sure the flush is strong and the water pressure is good.

If at all possilbe.. move a little bit in at a time. This is what we did in our apt. and my sister did it in her apt.... it make unpacking almost non-existant.

DOLLAR STORE! Pick up handy household items at the dollar store... you'll save a bundle and you'd be surprised with what you'll find.

this is the best peice of advice & also dont forget to measure the door!!- my roommate purchased a king size bed for our apartment and it wouldnt fit through the door and she wasted a lot of time & money!

oh and make sure you make a note of which rooms have over head lights and which rooms you need to get lamps for and note where the outlets are.

it stinks moving in and realizing when the sun goes down your living room has no overhead light!

Very true, Danielle!!!! When Debi's new bedroom set was first delivered, there were two store guys, trying to lift a really heavy dresser; Instead of lifting, they dragged her dresser across the carpet. This broke off one of the 'ball feet'. Since I saw it happen, I insisted on a new dresser, but they refused, sending a furniture repair guy, to fix it. I'll be curious to see if the thing stays attached during this move. But long story short, if you have heavy furniture, make sure you have plenty of people to move it. It also helps, to remove the contents of the drawers, and remove the drawers. Fred has called in his favors from helping his buds move. I think he plans to rent a U-HAUL, Don't forget the padding to protect your furniture. Also, I picked up change of address kits at the PO, for Debi and Fred. I think, I plan to let Debi use some new big totes, I got, for storage, to transport her towels, bedlinens, and clothing. Mary MOB

shelving paper for kitchen cabinets. Every time i've moved (3 times so far) i clean every cabinet and drawer and put new contact paper in. HTH!

Really important advice!!!!! Make sure you can get that bed mattress up a narrow stairs, too!!!! My Husband and I had chosen overstuffed furniture for our LR, but after measuring doorways, we saw it would be impossible to get the pieces into the LR!!!!! We're still waiting to buy a new sofa, to keep DH's monster chair company!! Mary MOB

I just moved this past weekend into our new house!!!

Bring Batteries for the smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors.. Better safe then sorry!!!

FOOD!!!! When you are moving you don't want to stop to go grocery shopping for the necessities!!!

TOOLS TOOLS TOOLS!!!!! Tell FH to bring TOOLS!!!!!! you never know what needs to be done!!!
