oh and make sure you make a note of which rooms have over head lights and which rooms you need to get lamps for and note where the outlets are.

it stinks moving in and realizing when the sun goes down your living room has no overhead light!

shelving paper for kitchen cabinets. Every time i've moved (3 times so far) i clean every cabinet and drawer and put new contact paper in. HTH!

Jean, in my Mom's apt., I couldn't find paper/liner wide enough, so, I bought big rolls, of white giftwrap, to line her cabinets. Of course one can buy in colors. I know it's not wipable but, if you don't like piecing paper/liner together, it works well. Mary MOB

I just moved this past weekend into our new house!!!

Bring Batteries for the smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors.. Better safe then sorry!!!

FOOD!!!! When you are moving you don't want to stop to go grocery shopping for the necessities!!!

TOOLS TOOLS TOOLS!!!!! Tell FH to bring TOOLS!!!!!! you never know what needs to be done!!!

I know this sounds dumb....but SNACKS.

I helped my BM move and we were dying, I ended up going to the bodega to buy some bottles of water and diet coke.

Also, especially if it is a complex, have the super's number handy to make note of any last minute concerns before you move in. (She never noticed that the closet door was broken)

These tips are great!!!! I'm totally notebooking this post!!!!

My tip is to write down what color the fixtures, appliances and everything else is (toilets, sink, tub etc). We went to the house that we just bought like 3 times and I kept forgetting what color each of these things were so I didn't know what else to buy to match it!!! For example, we went to buy a toilet paper holder and couldnt remember what color the fixtures in the bathroom were, gold or silver!!! Hahaha

All the other tips are wonderful!!! Thanks ladies!
