Need help with pic day of...

So I e-mailed my photographer about going to old westbury gradens to take pics after the church. So If we went to OWG after then we would get there around 4:15-4:30. Then we have 1 1/2 hrs of picture taking. My cocktail hour starts at 6pm. We were hoping to relax during this time. But he said we would need to take family pics at this time. Do you think we should go to OWG? or just take the pics at westbury manor?? Westbury manor has beautiful gardens as well.

Re: Need help with pic day of...

Is there anyway for you to cut down the time at OWG? Is your heart more set on taking your pics at OWG or being at your cocktail hour? If I were you, i'd try to cut down on my time at OWG, if I couldn't, I'd just take my pics at westbury since the scenery is nice there too and enjoy my cocktail hour..

Edited to fix typo

well you pay for 1 1/2 hours so the photographer said to use it all cause by the time you set up the pics and all it goes by fast.

That's true....well which do you have your heart more set on, enjoying your cocktail hour, or having a variety of pics...It would be nice to see lots of different kinds of pictures when you look at your wedding pictures years from now, but at the same time you'd probably want to enjoy as much of your day as you can...the day flies by and you probably dont want to spend the majority of your time being too busy to enjoy it...it's really a toss up

I know I am torn. I would love the pics at OWG but then I don't want to have to rush through the entire day just to take pics.

Re: Need help with pic day of...

it's true, it's about which you want more... i just read an 07 brides review and they took pics at the vanderbilt museum and i would love to do that, but fh and i decided a long time ago that we wanted to be at our cocktail hour. Plus my RH is pretty enough and has some great picture options. So i had a teeny bit of regret after I saw her review, but in the end i'd much rather be at my wedding enjoying my CH. So it's totally your preference.

What about a day after shoot? Or maybe you could push your ceremony up an hour or so earlier? I don't know if you'd be able to...

No we can't push it up and all my invitations were printed already. Maybe FH will do the day after shoot with me. Hmmm Thats a good idea. Cause I don't want to rush through my whole day cause then it will show in my pics.

Ok... Since I'm a Westbury Manor bride as well I tossed and turned over this myself and we found time to fit in Old Westbury Gardens. We moved our ceremony from 2:30 to 2:00 so we expect to arrive at the gardens by 4:00 (now you pay for 1 1/2 hours of pictures but you can cut it short, my sister did that) Since my Cocktail hour doesn't start till 6:30 we should have plenty of time to take some pictures... The gardens are only a 10 minute drive away, if that. My photographer said that as long as all are present and accounted for the family pictures should only take 1/2hour.

Re: Need help with pic day of...

I would skip OWG and do everything at Westbury Manor. This way you will have time to enjoy the cocktail hour JMO

Re: Need help with pic day of...

you can cut down your time at OWG if you want to be able to make it to your cocktail hour. also OWG will charge you extra if you have more than 20 people with you for the pictures. It might be easier to round up the family at the RH. Westbury is really pretty and you'll get a lot of nice pictures there!
