Re: mom

WHAT!!! JEANS AND A SHIRT!!!!
I don't know where you are having your reception and where your ceremony will be, but that in no way makes it acceptable to wear jeans to your daughter's wedding even if it is at City Hall. Is there a reason that you are not telling us that is making her act this way...like she doesn't like you FH? I can't imagine doing that unless I wanted to spoil the event for a legitimate reason, but even then I wouldn't wear jeans. If there is nothing and she just isn't up on the proper ettiqute, etc. then try showing her pictures from weddings of girls who have posted on here. I don't know how to post pictures but you can check out my son's wedding by searching the following post by a friend of Nina's who took pics at the wedding. I'm in green.

Re: mom

Do you know the reason your mom feels this way? Is she from this area...many other areas in the country do not do the same weddings as we do her in New York...however, I think maybe a nice pants suit would be more appropriate if she is more comfortable being on the understated side. Everyone is different and that is fine. Maybe you could come to a middle ground somewhere between jeans and a gown...like I said a pants suit possibly. Try to find out what her reason is...respect what her feelings are and try to remember it is more important that she is at the wedding, even though she may not be dressed the way you may want her to be.
Good Luck!

Re: mom

Does your mom hate to shop? Maybe you can offer to take her shopping to look for something that would be appropriate to wear to your wedding. If she says she isn't interested, you might want to consider buying her a dress for the wedding and giving it to her for Mother's Day or her birthday.

Re: mom

I just read one of your former posts and it says you are going to remarry your husband. Is there more to the story of your Mom's choice of clothing? I see you don't have a place yet and you were thinking about a garden or a beach wedding. Maybe that's why she thinks jeans are apporpriate?

I just read this about you remarring your husband so then there may be more then you are telling us about why your mom doesn't want to dress for the occasion.
