What do you girls think of........

Creating a Newlywed favorite meals cookbook?

I am feeling a creative streak this morning and seeing recipes people posted got me thinking.

I know we all post occasional recipes but they are all over the place usually. I have tried several of them and they're really good and I know some of the ones I have posted have been well recieved.

Would anybody be interested in actually consoldiating them all into a recipe book? it was just a thought. I know on places like Blurb.com and Picaboo you can make smaller inexpensive books.

So I was thinking maybe we could all start a thread if people are interested, posting our favorite recipes and then we could create a book that could be purchased individually by anyone just to ahve all the recipes in one spot. I know I notebook everything but sometimes its easier if you're in the kitchen, to grab a cookbook then to keep running back to the comp to read the recipe or keep printing it out.

On Blurb.com I know there is a recipe book template and you acn just post the book link so anyone ahs access to it. No one would make money off of it of course. it would just be like a regular cookbook.

I would be willing to create it if all the recipes were sent to me or posted in a thread-pro bono fo course. Just something fun to do and unite the masses so to speak. Just a thought. let me know what you guys think.

this is agreat idea - especially for someone like me that's more of a beginner in the kitchen

I think it's a great idea.

But, when we take a recipe from someone else, like Rachel Ray or Giada DiLaurentiis, we need to mention that 'our; version is adapted from their recipe. I've used their recipes as a base and then tailored them to my taste.

Oh definetly. I do that. Even when I post ehre I give credit then say I adapted it. I love RR but sometimes I need to 'trim down' her recipes to keep the lumps in ym jeans to a minimum.

maybe suggest a layout, something like post any recipes here, yours or ones that you;ve tried and loved. to make it uniform, it would be appreciated if you post in the following format:

recipe name
ingredients
directions


or whatever.

Yea I like to cook but I grew up with all the latino food so I didn't start branching out toll I met Pete and I really enjoy all kinds of food but then you end up with a million different cookbooks and you never know which recipes are good. At leats if LIW girls submit it we know it was 'taste-tested' and approved.

alot of us are just starting our cooking careers so could be fun.

LOL you're right. I wanted to see if anyone wanted to get involved first. Its still early but I know Hayley posts a lot of recipes and so do Eve and Heather. but they're all over the place so hard to search for them if you forget to notebook.

Hmm I like that idea for the format. It would make it ALOT easeir to transcribe into Blurb if they are all the same basic format so I can make the adaptions in MS Word if need be.

What do we think of taking pictures? I personally prefer full color photos of what i will be preparing because its more appealing to me.

Maybe we can add little pic of ourselves as well when we submit the recipes? To go by it?

No I like that! I think it would be better. I know I prefer seeing pictures of the food. My recipes don't always look as good as they taste but I like pictures because then you get an idea of what you will be eating.

YOU definetly need to submit alot of recipes. I always notebook everythinh you make lol.

We could have sections too...

-Poultry
-Beef
-Pork
-Rice

Etc.

Hmm... maybe if people could say what they serve with whatever they made, that would be helpful too. Like if you make chicken, put serving suggestions for sides like masjed potatoes, green beans, etc.

most of recipes are from somewhere else.... but a lot of them are from old magazines, so i might not always have the proper credits for them! other than magazines, they're almost all from foodnetwork!

Oh and I always have a hard time thinking of sides to go with entrees. So, it would be cool if you put what you usually serve it with!

Hayley I am naming you my official cronie one this -grins- You're the cook, I am just the art and putting it together. I want it to look liek a real cookbook and be easy to navigate.

Like I LOVE RR but she doesn't usually say what to serve with her main entrees so it would be nice if we could have a side dish section and then under the recipe, put the siggested side dishes and the page they're on.

Like we usually serve our honey salmon with my balsamic vinegar and cheese asparagus. So i would indicate under the salmon that it coudl be served with that and the page number.
