Married at Reception site??????

How would I go about getting showered with flowers, bird seed or bubbles or whatever if we are having the ceremony and going straight to the cocktail hour??? Do we do it when we are leaving?? Or... I dont know when.

Re: Married at Reception site??????

I don't think this is generally done if the ceremony and reception are at the same place...

Re: Married at Reception site??????

I went to a wedding at FLORAL TERRACE a few years ago, and we blew bubbles as they walked out. I guess anything else would have been too messy?

Re: Married at Reception site??????

You can have guests shower you with petals as you walk back up the aisle (the recessional), or you can have guests asemble out in the front of the reception hall and watch your 'get-away' as newlyweds. Talk to your caterer, and see what they suggest...I am sure they have dealt with this before. But, if you really want to do this, do not eliminate it just b/c you are having ceremony/reception in the same location.

Re: Married at Reception site??????

I do want to do it... I was thinking about releasing balloons but with the whole environmental factor I didnt think it was a great idea...

If I was going to release butterflies how many would go and how is that done??

Re: Married at Reception site??????

I would think the bubbles be the best bet. I knew someone who did the butterfly thing but you have to hold them in paper and they are rattling in the envelopes as people are holding them. When it came time to release them they weren't in the best of health and they were just kind of on the floor.... It could have been a bad batch though...

Re: Married at Reception site??????

Jen - I was just reading about them. HOW CRUEL IS THAT??? Stuffed in an envelope!!! Thats out of the question. I guess Im stuck with bubbles. If you chuck flowers then only people sitting on the aisle can do that otherwise people sitting on the other end of the aisle get it on the people sitting in the middle...

Re: Married at Reception site??????

lol. I know!!!! I am also getting married at the reception hall. How about ringing bells as you walk up the aisle???? Then the guests will have them the rest of the night instead of clanking the fine china???

Re: Married at Reception site??????

My hall (Chateau Briand) allowed my FG to throw petals in the beginning, and my guest showered us is petals during our recessional.

Re: Married at Reception site??????

Karen:

We ordered these streamers. I think we're going to leave them in a basket with the programs as people come in, and have them thrown during the recessional. I need to talk to my hall about what they suggest, but I figured that they wouldn't really show up in pics if we did it at the end of the night when we were leaving.

Wedding Streamers

Hope that helps!
Cathy

Edited to say that my other idea is to have them thrown as we come back into the cocktail hour, but I think I prefer the recessional idea. Just worried I might trip (I'm a little clutzy...)

Re: Married at Reception site??????

We did a rose petal farewell @ the end of our day reception. The servers handed out packets filled w/petals that said meet us on the front porch @ 5:00-then the DJ encouraged everyone to come outside-it worked out perfectly
We decided to do it for 2 reasons
1)Rich really wanted to get-away in his truck
2)there was another party coming after us & my family tends to linger-so I knew it would make everyone leave on time.
Here's a snapshot-there's a proof thats better but I don't have it scanned
