the insurance is common and most good photo will have it. it is in case they damage the floor or hurt a guest with the equip. i was happy use lou at celestrial, paid about that with video

Sounds pretty normal. Also, don't worry about the valid certificate of insurance. Any reputable company will have this, its pretty customary. I am paying $5,500, but that also includes video and a little more than what you are getting...

I'm paying a little over $5K for 2 photographers on the day of the wedding including a regular photographer and a photojournalist, along with a videographer. My package comes with the magazine style album with 70 pictures, 2 parent albums, some enlarged photos, thank you photos, and all proofs on a cd in high resolution.

I think you can do better for that price if you're on a budget. I know I was on a budget, but I didn't have to break the bank for a good photographer either.

As for the Certificate of Insurance, that's for pure liability purposes. If you're interested in a vendor, that would be one of the first questions I would ask them. If the don't have it, run! Every reputable/legal vendor should have it. Vendors usually takes care of that kind of stuff for you on their own. They'll ask you for the name of your banquet manager, and they'll fax over the insurance. Does it really matter if you personally handed in the insurance for them to file? Wouldn't they just do the same 'filing' if the vendors sent to them as well?
Speak to your banquet manager about this, and if all fails, sounds to me like you have a lazy banquet manager lol...ask to work with someone else.

That is definitely the average price. However, I don't like when people aren't upfront with me. If they did not tell you about that "hidden cost" of binding the albums during your first visit, I'd reconsider. Whoever you decide on, just make sure you look over the contract thoroughly. For example, I made a deal with my photog + video., so I made sure she included that info on the contract. I am paying 6k for

Oh, and as far as digital/traditional albums. I looked at a few photogs and they said it's the same price. They said digital is 50 bucks more, but they aren't trying to make a buck in that department so whichever one I wanted I would pay the same price.

The photographer should have their own insurance- if not, I would not deal with them. The insurance thing goes for all of your vendors that will be at the hall- DJ, florist, etc.

I think that the price isn't bad at all- is that including the day coverage?

I am getting the digital pics so the album looks like a scrapbook with color splashes and black and white and special effects ... and it was like 4,000 with my albums (for 100-125 pics) and we needed 3 parent ablums but those are going to be digital also but not scrapbook style and each parent pics their own book. That price includes the DVDs too.

We got a pacakge so with the DJ (we are getting special effects, like the gobo ball with our initals and the plasma screens), Photo and Video it was 6,000

Edited to add: my photo package also includes thank you cards, an 11 x 14 and a 8 x 10. 4 DVDs , party favors from the DJ and some few extras.

that is not just your RH... all RH require that any vendor you work with fax them their proof of insurance. They ones that they recommned, your hall already has their insurance on file. They usually have other vendors on file too if they are used often. You should double check with them to make sure that they dont already have it .. save yourself some extra work

plus, you never want to work with a vendor that doesnt have insurance!

I am using Marco Photography. He has done several weddings i had attended and is just awesome. We are paying $6200 for both pictures and Video (DVD) out album includes 100 digital pictures and style coloring including black and whites with parts of pic in color etc. each parent gets a 40 picture album. 125 photo thank you cards. 6 8x10's 1 16x20 1 11x14 a 5x7 for every member of the bridal party and 2 "brag books" the DVD is fully edited and "chaptered" with scene selection etc. and it includes 2 parent DVD copies. We get the photographer a lighting assistant and the video camera man as well. I think its a damn good deal. He is in Bohemia. We have the Platinum wedding package there are of course much cheaper packages as well. He has nothing but good review.

i agree - most reputable photographers are around that price these days.

and you aren't necessarily paying for their "name", but you ARE paying for their talented services for 10-12 hours, as well as all of your proofs, albums, etc. also, you're paying for piece of mind that your wedding memories will be perfectly captured and you will have nothing to worry about!!!

it's not a crazy price. i thought photos was one of the more important places to find a great, talented, reputable person because i wanted beautiful pics and didn't want to worry about it at all.

I don't think taht's a bad price at all. You may be able to shop around a bit more and find something cheaper.. but you need to absoulutly looove them as well. I fell in love with mine...i'm paying 4300 for EVERYTHING... 2 photographers with no time limit.. vidoegrapher, 2 parent books with 45 pics each and 2 dvds, unlimited pics in my album, just a set amount of pages lol... there's soo much... and we were able to keep taling him down..

for 2 photogs, engagement photos, 2 parent albums, my album, various enlargements, thank yous, a CD of all my proofs. . . . are you getting all these things too?

I think its the going rate for a good photographer. You can find something cheaper, but the price ins't outrageous
