Repost from BHB Registering on line...Question

I am really bored at work and figure I'll go on line today and look at some stuff for the registry.

I am thinking of maybe just registering on line. FI and I agreed he can do all the pots and pans and I can do everything else.

So I was thinking of doing that today, registering on line. I am thinking of registering at Crate and barrel and Macy's.

I have a question, if I register on line is it just like going into the store and doing it? Will my friends and family be able to view my registry?

Or Should I just work around FI's schedule and go one night after work (he is only off on Mondays and Tuesdays so thats really the only days we can do anything)

Thanks

Re: Repost from BHB Registering on line...Question

I would call the stores and ask them first. When we registered, we physically went to the stores first, and then they gave us 'access' to change/add/edit the registries from the computer. Edited to note that this was back in 2000, before Fortunoff and Crate&Barrel had perfected their online registries. Now, things may be simpler.

I would just ask before you spend the time doing it, and then your guests can't view them. Have fun and good luck!

Re: Repost from BHB Registering on line...Question

I registered online at Bloomingdales & it was fine-I only did a few items with them though. I went into Macys to start & then I had endless trouble getting online to update & make changes-it was awful. I think I just had back luck though. There are certain things you may register for that you don't need to see in person-If you're selecting appliances based on brands or quality levels, I'm sure you can do that online.

Re: Repost from BHB Registering on line...Question

We registered at Macys and BBB and we went in person for the first time. Macys was kind of a hassle to register online to be honest but I loved BBB. They showed pictures of everything with detailed descriptions. Whenever we felt like adding things, we just went there. I liked it a lot! Also, my dh got tired of it so I would go on whenever I wanted to and did it myself. It was great!

Re: Repost from BHB Registering on line...Question

Yes your guests will be able to see your registry online. The problem is, the Macy's website sometimes has items (at regular price) that are being discontinued at the stores and are impossible to find. You will probably need to make a few trips to the stores anyways but you can start your registries online. That's what I did.

Re: Repost from BHB Registering on line...Question

Be careful with adding things to a registry on-line. I agree with RichsBride with Macy's, the website $ucked. BBB I added till my heart was content on-line and then I found out that most of that stuff was available only on-line and they never told me that in the store or on their great website (which is great BTW but not all that stuff was available in the stores). Also remember that some stores carry more of the items than the others, all my gadgets were never bought because most of my guests could not find them at, I am sure several different BBB's.
