how long do you have to do thank-you's?
Ugggh my parents are up my bum every single day about doing my thank you's...... my wedding was 3 months ago.... the past few months have just been so nuts, I haven't gotten around to it yet! I am not too far behind with my thank you's, am I?? I'm gonna try to get them this weekend (It's supposed to rain Saturday anyway lol might as well)........ just curious what you girls think about how much time you have after the wedding.
Also, did you ladies do picture thank you cards, or plain ones? I was going to do pictures, but since my parents are harrassing me, I'm just gonna do plain ones, since it'll be quicker.

I don't recall what the technical etiquette is, but I sent mine out in batches, with the last batch going out at the 3 month mark.
I opted not to do photo thank yous and instead got monogrammed blank cards (which I can now use for anything).
I would get them finished and out as soon as you can if for no other reason than to have your folks back down. But you will feel the biggest relief once you get them all out!

We wrote ours before we left for our HM, then added pics when we got back, so mine were delivered within 2 months. We got them all written in, maybe, 2 evenings.

we are at 8 months and still have a few to send. we waited for our pro pics to come in and then waited a little while more.
everyone who got them loved them and didn't mind waiting. they could see the effort that went into them.

i try to get TYs out ASAP -- i had all of my shower tys out within one week.
a lot of our OOTers sent gifts in advance, so I was able to write those before the wedding. i sat down and wrote 30 tys last night and mailed them out today, and i'm hoping to get the rest out in the next week, or more realistically by the 17th. Oct 17th the absolute latest.
I didn't want to wait for pro pix to come back (the longer i wait, the closer to exams) and liked traditional tys with our names on it in our font, on the same linen cardstock as our invites so we ordered them in advance and already have them in hand. it's fun to use them for other things too.
i think 3 months is about normal but a lot of people take longer because they get picture cards. just sit down and write them, it feels good to make a dent in it and it was fun to relive the wedding too

I took forever picking our TY pics (did a collage style card).....so we sent ours out in the 8-9 month range! I received tons of compliments on them, so I guess it was worth the wait lol

I've passed the 4-month mark and I'm only about 1/3 done with my TY's. After 4 or 5, my hand starts KILLING me so I have to take a lot of breaks. It's such a long process! And DH is no help b/c his handwriting is illegible.

I tried to have DH help me with e-party thank yous but it was useless... I even wrote him a sample but his handwriting is bad and its easier to just do them myself. I tried to delegate stamping to DH for some tys i had to write before the wedding, but he screwed that up! he put the stamps on the wrong side of the envelope and after i peeled them off, he put our old return address labels on them even though i had the back flap pre-printed in fancy script with our new last name and address.
i might make him write a few for his side of the family.. we'll see.

same problem....although we're just coming up on 3 months. I'm sending a big batch (my family and my parents' friends) tomorrow, which is like 2/5 of them....DH's family/parents' friends is another 2/5 and our friends are 1/5. So, still have about 3/5 to go....we're hopefully going to work on them Sunday morning!

We just ordered ours and are a little past the one-month mark. I hope to get them all out by the three month mark...or at least before the holidays so they're not hanging over my head.

omg...I feel sooooo much better...I thought I had to do them in 4-8 weeks. I have a lot of back ordered registry gifts so it is super confusing!
