Re: Pumpkin picking does anyone still go?

DH & I have gone since we were dating...we love to go even though we don't have kids. We don't make pumpkin pies out of them though...I use the canned pumpkin for that.

Re: Pumpkin picking does anyone still go?

we've thought of going but never have. DH loves pumkin pie so he would probably want me to make him one . . never did one from scratch before so I don't think so . . .

maybe apple picking would be better

Re: Pumpkin picking does anyone still go?

DH & I were just talking about this yesterday. We have gone the past two years and plan on going again this year. We went on a hayride and walked through the corn maze. We did buy a couple of pumpkins, I decorated them and put them on the steps.

Re: Pumpkin picking does anyone still go?

We don't right now b/c we live in an apt building that doesnt allow trick or treaters, and the pumpkin would probably go to waste.

but when we move, i hope to go every year, and i'd LOVE to try to make a pie from scratch.

Re: Pumpkin picking does anyone still go?

We still go Pumpkin Picking & I Love It.
We go see Otto the Ghost also at Hicks.
I have been seeing Otto since I was little, so I have to keep the Tradition going. And will continue to when we have children.

We usually go Pumpkin Picking in the day time, & then go to the Haunted Houses at Night.

Re: Pumpkin picking does anyone still go?

not really - only if I take a drive out east by the northfork or the wineries. Other than that if I am going to make pumpkin pie I find the the filling works much better than the real deal. There is soo much water and it is just a pain to deal with in general.

I have my grandmother's recipes so it is all good

I think pumpkin picking is really great when you have children

We usually go to Helen's Flower Farm, I think it's in Riverhead, it's not on Sound ave but it's on a side road, route 105. Besides pumpkin picking they have a corn maze, they sell flowers, grilled corn, cider, produce, gourds and fall decorations.

Re: Pumpkin picking does anyone still go?

We go every year pumpkin and apple picking where i used to go when i was younger. We go out east to Stakey's Pumpkin Farm in Aquebogue and apple picking at Lewin's Farm on Sound Ave in Wading River. Then on that road there is Briermere Farms which has the most amazing pies!

We just went to Lewins for apple picking last week, first time we ever did that. Next year we will go earlier in September because alot of apples were already all over the ground, alot that were still on the trees were rotting or eaten by bugs. I got about half a bushel of good apples, and made some yummy apple crisps!
