At a retirement party... what do you give as a gift?

I will be going to a friends' mom retirement party but i have nooooooo idea what to give her

money? If so........ How much????

At my old work we usually chipped in and bought a southwest gc, so they could use their free time to travel.
Maybe a gc to a book or craft store for free time.

My FH and I went to one about 2 months ago..I picked up this cute little glass statue thingy from a stationary stor that had a cute retirement poem on the mirror part... and then we gave some 'good luck' cash...in wish in the card we wrote that this was to go toward something that they wanted to do but couldn't b/c of work. Also, we treated them out to dinner. They were sooo happy with everything...worked out well.
