Re: Honeymoon Italy amalfi coast in August???

I've never been there, but my FI lived in Italy for 7 years (he was in his early twenties when he lived there). He won't go there in the summer, he says it's just way too hot. He always says Spring is the nicest for Italy.

Re: Honeymoon Italy amalfi coast in August???

We're honeymooning there in September. I can't wait. I have to warn you that I have heard to stay away from that area during August, because it so crowded. We're actually getting married in August, but honeymooning in Sept. It works out better for our work schedules and everyone I have spoken to says the Amalfi Coast is much nicer in Sept. August is when all the Europeans take their vacations, so the area is swamped. Good luck with planning! FYI- I got a great airfare from Delta, go to their website if you are looking to buy tickets!

Re: Honeymoon Italy amalfi coast in August???

Hi! I have been to Italy many times b/c FH is from there and I think, although it's going to be SUPER HOT and pretty packed - you will still have an amazing time.

Make sure to stay in Positano, try not to stay in Capri (way over-priced and a total tourist trap)
Although it's good to go and spend a day there and at least see it.....
Go to Naples....walk around and pick up the culture (but hold onto your wallets there)

You will have an amazing time no matter what month you go in! I have been to Italy in Februaury and still have had the BEST TIME ever!

Re: Honeymoon Italy amalfi coast in August???

Having studied in Italy and vacationed on the Almafi coast I say it is gorgeous. I agree with the others when they say it is too humid. 99% of the Italians migrate to the water in the summer do to the extreme hot temperatures in the cities. I twill be crowded Don't expect air conditioning like here. Enjoy! Be careful with the way our world is today.
