Re: Christmas is closer..

We mostly just hang out with each other all day long and each and cook and laugh. We all have crazy schedules, so whenever we get together we really cherish that time. I think that is my favorite part of the holidays. I love my mom , and I wish I could be with her all the time lol She has a new boyfriend now, after 15 years of being alone and divorced, so she has time with him now, which I am happy of course for her. I just really love being around her. She is my best friend and that is what I look forward to the most. :)

Re: Christmas is closer..

Christmas is HUGE for DH's family! For the past couple of years, my parents, brother and grandmother have all been invited to Christmas Day at my now SIL's house. So, that tradition will remain in place.

Christmas Eve is a bit harder b/c our families do the exact same thing, but in 2 different locations. We both do mass at our church and then go out for dinner at a Chinese restaurant. This year, DH has to work so I will probably just stay with my family on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning, I will probably drive to my parents' house, have DH meet me there on his way home from work so we can all open presents together without having to bring everything to my SIL's house later. Oy!!!

Re: Christmas is closer..

Christmas Eve for us is the party day. When I was younger the cousins and everybody all dressed up and got together on this day. As we got older that tradition dwindled somewhat. We're anxious to start it up again when me & my sisters & cousins begin to have children But we still usually go out on that day or have people over.

Christmas DAY is the REAL celebration for us and that day we keep ONLY to family. My sister & her husband sleep over the night before and we all wake up together, have a big christmas breakfast, open gifts, and then watch a few great classic Christmas movies. That's our main tradition! Watching 'The Christmas Carol', 'It's a Wonderful Life', 'March of the Wooden Soldiers', and 'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas' (cartoon of course). I love that. We all stay in our pjs and just relax. I hope to keep that same tradition with FH when we get married.
