Thanksgiving Plans?

I figured it might get quiet as we approach Wed. so why not ask this now.

What are everyone's Thanksgiving plans? Are you and FH/DH going to your family, his family or both?

All of my family, which is relatively much smaller than FH's (only 8 including me), are going to FH's house. FMIL LOVES Thanksgiving and has a HUGE Thanksgiving dinner. This year it will be 25-30 people total.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?

Since we don't see DH family as much (aunt/cousins) we are going to their house. Works out better for me since they are closer to Tanger .
We'll be with my fam this week and the weekend.

My fam was upset since this will be my 1st T-Giving not with them.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?

Dh and I are doing turkey day for 13! Luckily our apartment has a nice sized dinning room that is open to our living room in which we will have another table setup for the 'kids.' Should be interesting!

Now I wish i registered for 16 setting instead of 8! I have to mix in my penguin plates to have enough! So now next year my mission is to buy more place settings.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?

FIL and MIL are seperated so I think we are doing a brunch/breakfast at her house. We are then heading to DH's aunts house with my FIL and 2 SIL. My parents are going to CT. to visit family and go away for a few days, so we might do dessert with my grandparents.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?

well, considering FH & I are still separated by 2,000 miles, we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving apart.

I'll be going to my sister & BIL's family for a huge dinner. I think FH is going to his mother's house.

I can't wait until we're finally TOGETHER on the holidays

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?

We are eating at Dh house. I think my mom was sad, but we will be doing christmas at her house instead. Its hard this year for my mom, since my grandma died only 2 months ago. I wish I could spend both Holidays with her but that is unfair to Dh's parents. I cant wait until we have our own place big enough to host it myself. Less stress..

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?

I SO wish that our families would be willing to get together on the holidays... it would save so many headaches trying to figure out who's going where! But DH's family is very set in their ways and they would never dream of spending the holiday anywhere but at his parents's house, with the usual suspects. They aren't much for 'new' people! Anyway, so we're seeing DH's family on Thursday and my family on Saturday (gotta drive to Jerz... blehhh).

We are going to my Aunts house and Im excited b/c I haven't been with my fam in 5 or 6 years (basically since DH and I have been together). MIL has to work on Friday AND Saturday so we can't do Thanksgiving with her so we'll be staying on LI.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?

Thanksgiving was always at my brother and sil's until last year when I went w/ my now husband to Boston. It was fun, but the first time in almost 34 years that I was not w/ my immediate family for a holiday. This year, his brother & sil & mom will be on LI the day after (friday) so we'll see them then. For turkey, we are going to my mom's and my cousins are coming over
