Jenn the Hair Genie

Who is using/has used Jenn the Hair Genie? I booked her but I saw a bad review on her and I'm a little nervous......she was great at my trial.

I had my trial back in February with her, and then she did both mine and my sisters' hairstyles for my wedding a few weeks ago. Wonderful on all accounts!!

All 3 of us were extremely happy with our hairstyles, and they stayed curled and pinned throughout the entire day. My curls only came out when I combed them out later in our hotel room after our reception.

Jenn was also a huge help to me in another way........ when I finally put on my dress, I was having trouble getting into it, and my sisters were a little confused as to how to help, since they weren't there when I went for fittings. Jenn said she's helped many brides with this, so she helped me line up the crinoline slip with the dress so I could step into it. It was much easier than slipping the dress over my head, which was always done in David's bridal. Then, since I had unexpectedly lost some weight the week before the wedding, my dress was too loose and kept falling down. Didn't want to give my photographer and video guys a show in my hotel room!! My sisters were trying to figure out if should they pin me into it, but Jenn cut the side straps (the ones that hold the dress onto the hanger) and literally tied me into my dress. It really made a huge difference in making my dress fit nicely.

Yes, she's a bit hard to get in touch with, as I had to leave a few messages. But..... on the day of, my sisters and I were blown away with her styling. We're still getting compliments on our hair (and makeup) from anyone who sees the photos.

I have my full review up but in short I was happy very happy with her service and everyone's hair.

unfortunately I don't know if it was my review you read..but to be honest I wasn't that happy with her on my wedding day. My review says more as to why..but my hair on my wedding day looked nothing like my trial..i was very dissappointed

I posted on your thread on BHB's thread- but now that I looked on the Bride's review page- I see what review you read and I dont think it was all that negative- she was disapointed because her hair didnt stay- I think its great she wrote the review, it will give you something to think and you can come up with a solution beforehand.

How are you doing your hair? up or down?

I used jenn and was very happy. My Hair never stays in curls and when i went for my trial she did it mostly up and pushed back and my hair stayed alll day and all night. I decided for the day of the wedding that i wanted it more down...even then the curl still stayed better than any other time i've gotten my hair done. Of course the curls dropped and it was out a bit by the end of the night..but i also had a lot of ppl hugging and squeezing me, and i expected it to drop a bit. But i woke up the next morning and my hair was still wavy ( i have thin pin straight hair). She was able to give me nice loose curls without looking like shirley temple and my hair still stayed. She also did extensions and curls for one of my girls, curls all down that stayed really nice all night for my maid of honor and an updo for my matron of honor that she was very happy with. She did my grandmother, aunt and mom's hair too and they were all also very happy with their look that day. And my flowergirl looked absolutely adorable. I think it is always gonna vary from person to person.

and my 2 MOHs ( who both got their hair done first around 8:30-9:30...this was around 15 hours later) and my BM who got extensions..

I liked how my hair came out, but I was disappointed / upset for other reasons.

Thank you soo much ladies for the feedback....I'm not going to lie but I'm a little bit nervous with the comments I saw.

I dont have Oksana booked and it seemed like alot of you had a problem when they worked together so hopefully that will mean I will have a better experience.

I dont know what to do...should I stay with her or try and find someone else? I'm so confused

i think it has to be what you are comfortable with. If you felt good about your trial and you feel comfortable with her than go for it. Maybe go for a 2nd trial to see how you feel. I worked with her and jillian from gorgeous faces and didn't seem to have any trouble at all and neither did any of my bridal party or family. I understand the other girls problems as well..but that's why i say it's always gonna vary from girl to girl. You are the one who has to be 100% comfortable with your choice!!!!! Good luck hun!!

I think everyone has had different experiences. I loved my hair the day of. I actually liked it so much better then I did at the trial.

Did you have a trial? Were you happy with the results? I wouldnt base my decision on one bad review (unless it said she never showed or was like an hour late of course)....

I did not personally use her, but there seems to be a common theme that I have heard from a few ( not all) brides . She ( for the most part ) does great hair BUT ALLEGEDLY is unprofessional and likes to talk sh*t about other brides on LIW . I didn't use her because it took her a month to get back to me and got an attitude about it with me when I mentioned that I called her a month ago and already booked with someone else

Take this advice and run....find someone else. Many hair ladies do great hair! Good luck with whatever you decide.

i had a great experience with her. she came to bklyn to do my hair trial. i didn't have a headpiece at the time. she did a style that i could have a headpiece. i booked her on the spot. the day of the wedding she was early. she did mine and 3 girls hair. it stayed in the whole night. i would use her again
