nwr- anyone ever get hair glaze at the salon?

My stylist suggested putting on a glaze (my hair is not dyed, and it's bra strap length) and she said this would make it shinier.

Here's the catch .. it's $50!

Have any of you ladies done this? Is it worth the money?

Also, is it AT ALL damaging?!?! My hair is recovering from flat iron damage very nicely and I don't want to do more damage to it.

Thanks ladies!

Re: nwr- anyone ever get hair glaze at the salon?

I did once at DeFranco Spagnolo in Great Neck

to be honest, I didn't really see a difference lol
no one ever said anything to me either hahah

Maybe it was the salon that I went to though

edit: I straighten my hair also...it didn't do damage at all, not harmful

I also did the glaze one time, it was $40. My hair has never been dyed 'virgin hair'. When I did the glaze though I honestly did not see a difference...I actually felt like it made my hair brittle.

I think I may have once but it was after she put in new highlights and lowlights. My MIL does it to her hair. It holds her color for a decent amount of time BUT she only washes her hair once a week.

Personally if you don't color your hair and are trying to repair it I wouldn't do it.

I also get it done right after they dye my hair. It holds the color in more. Also have done it a little while after dying my hair and starts fading a bit, so before i can make it to the salon, I will put in the glaze myself which helps alot.

For me it does work, but I do it for my dyed hair. Not 100% sure if you need it.

I do it after I get my hair dyed as well so it doesn't look dry.

i think its more for people who have dyed hair, it brings out the color and the hair shiny.

if you want your hair to be shiner i would suggest getting an anti frizz silicon serum it protects your hair and makes it shiny. Its also cheap

If I have time i usually do it too. I usually do it myself though. Glaze and toner are the same thing. when they just do glaze with no color its to seal in shine. the stuff from the beauty supply place will probably cost $20 and has enough for about 6 applications depending on how long your hair is. I'd get the glaze color in clear but you can get color too. it's only deposit though, so it won't change your color, unless you go dark. so stick to clear.

it doesn't damage your hair and i do it about every 3 weeks. i use the clairol radiance line (purple bottle) you need the developer and glaze. it's a 1/2 1/2 mix.

the salons do it and charge a lot, but i happen to like how aveda does it. their hair stuff smells fab, so i splurge for it when i go there. HTH
