FH just got me thinking...
I just registered for my very first MBA classes today and am all excited but nervous too. I keep asking myself am I making the right decision. I am doing it part time so it is going to take me probably 3 or 4 years (maybe longer who knows!). FH is very excited for me but he also implied the whole 'what about kids thing' do they have to wait etc...I never planned on being a stay at home mom, I want a career etc.. but I am just nervous I am makign the wrong decision and shouldn't go back to school. I am 26 and I dont want to wait that long to have kids and stuff.
ok crazy time over. Thanks for listening (reading)

i think 30 is a great age to have kids. You have to do what makes you happy. If you dont you will regret it.

Do what feels best to you... I have 2 kids and I want to go back to school soo bad... I never finished because I worked and I took care of the kids..I wish I could go back to school and be home with the kids. Then return to work part time after I received a degree.. But thats doubtful.

Re: FH just got me thinking...
I think you should go back to school if you want to b/c it will NEVER be more, and if you are doing it part time, you could have kids at the same time too. when I was in grad school, one of my classmates had a kid WHILE she was doing her PHD fulltime, and teaching two undergrad classes. . it's not easy but it sure can be done -
I say trust yourself and start school - it is easier to stop than to ever start again. GOOD LUCK!!!

I am 32 and I am in school full time working on my PhD- As of right now I am looking at another 2.5-3 years of school. I want a family too but my attitude is I still have time to have kids. This is the time to go back to school and do what you want to do for yourself...after you have a family you have to put your children's needs first.

Go back to school. In today's economic environment most business people need MBAs to get paid what they deserve.I went back to school part-time for my MBA and finished it almost 2 years ago now. I do not for one second regret doing it! It took me 3 years. And while it is time and effort, it's not insane. You can totally do it!

Re: FH just got me thinking...
I say going back to school is the smart decision. If you dont do this now then years from now you might regret it and wonder where your life will be if you had only gone back to school. You can have kids at anytime and even have kids while youre in school, it can be done. Plus going back to school can mean a better future for your kids so youre doing it for them too.Plus you dont know if it will take 3-4 years. Yes you will only go part time but at times maybe you can take more classes one semester or find a way to squeeze in more credits, so you can work it out.

30 is a great age to start a family. And suppose you don't go back to school and 4 years from now you two still decide you aren't ready for kids - you'll be 30 without the MBA and without kids!Everything in life has a way of working out. Good luck. I'm sure you'll succeed.

Don't get all freaked out about it. Even if it does take you 3-4 years that time will fly by. I went to law school part time and part of me thought I was crazy for doing it at 31 but the 4 years flew by and there were plenty of women in the program that worked full time had babies and stayed in school. If this is really what you want I say go for it.

Re: FH just got me thinking...
I feel the same way. I've posted soemthing similar on the NW board. I am 25 and I work as a nurse and I have an associates degree. I just signed up for classes to get a bachelor's degree. Going part time it will take a long time for me to finish as well, probably at least 5 years. I'm excited to go back to school, but at the same time, nervous. I know DH wants kids eventually, but I don't think we will wait five years. It doesn't sound to me like you are ready for children now. I suggest going back and taking classes. You can always start a family while you are in school. You can take more credits now if you can handle them and/or cut back when you have children. That's my plan. I know I'm not ready now for children, but I am ready to better my family's life.

School is always the right choice!! Some babies are not planned and yet the parents always figure it out.

Re: FH just got me thinking...
I am going to be in the same boat as you. I will be finished with my masters in June and plan to go back for my MBA in January and going part time takes about 3 to 3.5 yrs and if you want to kill yourself you can do it in 2.5 yrs (FH is doing his MBA now and has it all scheduled for me
)SO I wont be having kids until i am done with school and I will be 32. But i dont want to regret not going back and being in your 30's and having kids isnt bad. Once you are done with school you can devote your time to your kids or thats my thoughts.
