Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

I don't have a recipe but sometimes I add a can of chopped season tomatoes

OR

Get the three pack of meat (pork, veal and beef) that makes the best meatloaf!

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

I've never made it before..I've always helped my mom. But I know I can buy the 3 different chop meats and pour tomato sauce on the top.

I don't know how long to cook it for!!! I think it's like an hour or an hour and a half!

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

from Health Magazine:

(I've made this TONS of times with 93% lean chopped meat instead of turkey and it is amazing!!)

Enjoy!

Ingredients

* 1 tablespoon olive oil
* 1 large onion, chopped (1 1/2 cups)
* 2 garlic cloves, minced
* 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
* 1/2 teaspoon pepper, divided
* 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
* 1/3 cup fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
* 3 tablespoons ketchup, divided
* 1 3/4 pounds ground turkey, 97% lean
* 3/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
* 1 large egg, lightly beaten
* 1 large egg white, lightly beaten

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 375°. Heat oil in medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring frequently, until soft, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper; cook, stirring, 1 minute. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, broth, and 1 tablespoon ketchup; transfer mixture to a large bowl, and cool.

2. Add turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, egg white, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper to mixture in bowl, and mix well. (Mixture will be very moist.)

3. Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and coat lightly with cooking spray. Form the turkey mixture into a loaf, and place on the pan. Brush meatloaf evenly with remaining 2 tablespoons ketchup. Bake 1 hour or until thermometer inserted into center registers 170°. Let meatloaf stand 5 minutes before serving.

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

this is how I make mine, I usually half the recipe but still use the full envelop of soup mix. Sometimes I'll substitute the ketchup for diced tomatoes, that comes out good too

Meatloaf

1 envelope of onion soup mix
2 lbs. ground beef
3/4 cup plain dry bread crumbs
2 eggs
3/4 cup water
1/3 cup ketchup

1. Preheat oven to 350°. Combine all ingredients in large bowl.
2. Shape into loaf in 13 x 9-inch baking or roasting pan.
3. Bake uncovered 1 hour or until done. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

this is what I do, I improvise

1 lb of ground beef (usually serves 3 in our house)
then I just add in whatever I feel like on that day BUT the best concocktion seems to be

ground beef
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tbsp graided parm cheese
1/2 cup bread crumbs (italian)
1 EGG IS A MUST (to hold the loaf together)
splash of garlic and chopped onion

I also cover the top with a mixture of ketchup and brown sugar

DELISH! cook at 350 for 1 - 1.5 hours. Watch it!!

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

I usually mix 1 pound 93% low fat ground sirloin, some bread crumbs & an egg- it should be moist if not, I add 1/2 cup of jar tomato sauce.

i have also made this recipe from all recipes.com- its dh's favorite & yummy- but I prefer the classic version

Sweet & Sour Meatloaf

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 eggs
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons prepared mustard

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, salt, ground black pepper, eggs, onion flakes and 1/2 of the can of tomato sauce. Mix together well and place into a 5x9 inch loaf pan.
Push the meatloaf down into the pan forming a well for the sauce around all the edges.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the remaining tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, white sugar and mustard. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
After meatloaf has cooked for 40 minutes, remove from oven and pour sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
Return to oven and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 more minutes. Let sit 5 minutes before removing from pan.

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

my husband always uses ground turkey a big package i think its the two pound one. We mix with one egg, one cup of breadcrumbs, 3 tbs of parmesan cheese and 1 tbs of garlic powder.

Take half and put on a baking dish that is sprayed make a nice spread so that there is a outter wall and a dip in the center, take ham (boiled or virginia or hot) add as much as you like and then add mozzerella cheese but leave about 4 slices out and set aside, put the other part of the meatloaf mix on top seal the sides up real good. Put in the oven and cook on 350 for about 15 mins and then add one jar of unseasoned tomato sauce on top just to cover it leave some aside. Cook another 15 minuntes take the rest of the tomato sauce and put it over it again add cheese and cook until melted.

Our oven is pretty warm so it make cook quicker then yours just check the temp of the ground turkey and chicken so that the thickest part (not stuffed) is at 180-185

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

1 1/2 lb meat
small onion chopped
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
3/4 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp parsley
1 tsp basil
salt and pepper to your taste

beat the egg in the milk and then pour into the rest of ingredients

TOPPING: 3 tb ketchup, 1/2 cup worsterchire sauce, 1 tb honey
that's about whats used - i dont pay attention to the measurements, i make a
lot of this, like a cup or more (just make sure its not too thick with the
honey, if so add more ketchup and worsterchire) Then I actually pour some of
this into the meat mixture and then when its in the pan, pour it on top

Re: Meatloaf Recipe?

I don't have an exact recipe, but I made some a while ago with the bacon on top of it. Whatever you use in your meatloaf, make sure you at least put the bacon on top of it. It made it so moist, and so flavorful!!!

The bacon obviously was delicious also lol :)
