another twist in 'where's my dress?' NEW UPDATE!

Sorry, it is really long!

So I called the salon again this morning and got the same person on the phone that I spoke to on Monday who said my dress was still in customs and that she would check with her manager about the delay. Of course, we all know that dresses from Spain do not take 3 weeks to clear customs. So on Monday I had spoken to the salon and told them I knew all about international shipping and that stuff from Spain takes about 3 days to clear customs so please get back to me ASAP about what the issue might be. The manager did not call back. But I think I freaked them out with my knowledge of shipping (thanks LIW-ers!) because they scheduled my first fitting despite the dress being physically absent.

Today I spoke to them again and they told me my dress was SHIPPED from the designer earlier this week (probably right after I called) and it would be in by the end of the week.

SO PISSED, because they flat out lied, telling me my dress had been shipped weeks ago and was stuck in some box in customs when in actuality it wasn't even shipped yet! They could have just been honest with me, telling me that the designer needed an extra two or three weeks but it would be here by early December. I would have been fine with this, but not a lie!

I held my tongue, because at this point, as FH pointed out last night, this is a really important dress and I just want to get it already and stop all of this messing around.

Oh and if you are interested, the salon is 'Wedding Atelier.' I have til now given them great reviews, the staff was friendly, finding my dress was easy, they were very accomodating. I hope the fitting process is painless too, but these past few weeks have been aggrevating to say the least.

You are right, they shouldn't have lied. But they probably did because they didn't want you to panic. (Although they should just tell you the truth either way to avoud surprises)

Sorry this happened to you. At least the dress is on its way.

UGHH I had a feeling. Keep in mind, transit time from spain is 10 days, containers can be cleared from customs up to 3 days prior to arrival, meaning when the container arrives it should already be cleared from customs and ready for the trucker to pick it up -- the whole process of shipping to arrival shouldnt take more than 14 days tops!!!! keep your eyes on them

Sorry your going through this but good for you, letting them know you knew they were lying. I have to tell you LIW must be vendors worst nightmare. We are all wiser because of it. And they know were talking about them.

Wow, I can't believe all the trouble you've had! I'm glad to hear that your dress will actually be at the store soon. Hope everything goes well. I've ran into a bad experience with my bridal shop too but I had to hold my tongue since I don't want them to screw up my dress.
