Wedding Band
So FH is pretty dead set on getting the matching wedding bands to my e-ring, only in white gold instead of the platinum like my e-ring. At first I was fine with that, because all I wanted was a simple band, like my own mother's. I think I've tended to replicate all of her things lol. FH wanted the simple bands because, well, he's cheap. Then we tried on simple bands at the mall, and I really didn't like them. At all. I tried broaching the subject of a simpler (and reasonably priced) diamond band, and FH totally shot it down.
So he shows me this right now and basically says this is what you're getting, tough noogies.
It's definitely classic, but I'm not sure if I really like it anymore, and there's not going to be any winning this argument, so I'm not even going to bother. I'm just a little sad that I'm not going to love my wedding band that I'll be wearing forever

I would keep begging. Lightly bringing up the topic...not a nag but more like a sweet beg...I wouldnt give up. I want diamonds. Even if I have to wait for it to be paid off!!! lol

Re: Wedding Band
Ok, I'm sorry but that is hilarious what kittgags said. You could always add another one at a later date if he's adamant right now. My sister in law and brother had no money to spend on that when they were first getting married but he knew she wanted one and when she had her first child he surprised her with a diamon band. She wears it with her original and engagement ring.

Re: Wedding Band
I think it looks really pretty all together. But if you want diamonds you should go to the mall and check out lundstrom or whitestone. They are going out of buisness. I got my wedding band for $450 when it was originally $950.

Re: Wedding Band
Yeah, I'd probably be ok with CZs...it's not even that I'm like I want diamonds waaaah lol, I just felt like the simpler bands you couldn't even tell I was wearing two seperate rings.I don't think any amount of crying, pleading, begging, or bjs are going to win this one for me
He seems to equate plain with inexpensive, which might not necessarily be the case, so we'll just have to see in time. Bah!

Re: Wedding Band
That stinks
Me and FH agreed that the two things we would not cut back on no matter the cost are our wedding bands and our honeymoon. Those are our gifts that we will treasure forever and should def be something you love. If you cut back here and there on the vendors you can use the money for the wedding bands.

Re: Wedding Band
you can get a diamond band for a few hundred...its the same as an ering...it goes by the quality of the stone....on a band with small stones you can tell the difference anyway so you can get one for pretty cheap. Thats good for you because you dont have to match any stones on your ering band since you dont have any....you can def find a good deal...look online too....Honestly...you can get a 2 carat ring for $1k if its a low grade diamond!

you'd be surprised.... we checked zales on black friday and the thin diamond band I liked was only a little more than a plain white gold one FH tried on! I was like
gold is really expensive right now...Make sure you tell him that you want to wear it forever and not 'upgrade' down the road. A lot of ppl do this, FSIL just upgraded to a diamond band but I'm sentimental, I want to wear the original forever. And you should like it for that!

Hmm...I'll have to look into this. El Cheapo is pretty out of touch though, he seems to think that he's going to get the bands for 50 bucks. But he won't go to whitehall or lundstrom or zales or a chain place going out of business to get a deal, because he thinks the quality is suspect! I'm like, you can't have it both ways baby haha.
There's really just no winning or arguing with him. I mean, I love the little monkey, truly, I do, but enough is enough already!

it's your band and if you're going to be wearing it for the rest of your life it should be something you love.

Re: Wedding Band
Personally, I would let it go for a while. You still have a year to fight this fight. Maybe you or he will get a huge promotion. Or maybe your taste will change. Who knows what can happen in the next year. All I know is that it's not worth getting worked up over this for the next 12 months.Worst case is you two compromise - you get the plain band now and he buys you a diamond anniversary band for your 5 year or something.
