Yeah! I got my glassware for the candy bar!
And I have Kathy from Follow Your Heart to thank!

She's been so wonderful and such a great help!
Here's a photo of the glassware that Kathy was able to obtain for me (4 of each):
(The urns are from Michael's.)
Girls, if you need favors, invites, etc., you should definitely check her out! She's a pleasure to work with!!!!

I LOVE the idea of a candy bar! Where are you getting the candy from, and what types of candy do you plan on using? Also, are you having little bags, or boxes for the guests to use?

The candy bar was on Martha Stewart.. I was thinking of doing it, but Todd already says that we have enough sh1t going on and that the guests will be too overwhelmed.. lol we'll see about it lol I will post a pic in a sec.Jenny, what kind of gourmet (if any) candy are you putting in the vases?

That looks really pretty. Are you doing all one color like that? If you're not having a venetian hour where do you put the candy bar?

Re: Yeah! I got my glassware for the candy bar!
Here's a pic from the Martha Stewart magazine:I had a worksheet with some of the candy I was thinking about using, but deleted it by accident.
And you can't restore worksheets.
Don't know if I'm going to do a color scheme or not. I thought about doing something more along the lines of 'nostalgic' for the adults. Candy that they enjoyed during their childhood, mixed with chocolates. The thing is, solid color candy gets rather expensive. 5lbs of solid colored M&Ms runs around $70. I wouldn't even know what color scheme to go with! I don't have one.

We figured we would get boxes and/or bags so that guests could take candy home with them.
We're also still debating about whether we should do the viennesse station or at least a modified viennesse (no choc. dipped fruit or cordials).
And we intend to keep the candy bar set up the whole evening, not just after dinner.
Kathy, from Follow Your Heart has been helping me with ideas and such!

Re: Yeah! I got my glassware for the candy bar!
Ooh, Marcella, thanks for posting that pic of the candy buffet! The tiered plant stands would have cost me well over $200, so we were contemplating just putting the glassware on tables.
I guess I should now refer to my 'candy bar' as a 'candy buffet'!!!

Re: Yeah! I got my glassware for the candy bar!
heheJenn, why don't you do a search for bulk gourmet candy?
I really looked into this.. I really wanted to do it.. you can go to papermart and get white bags for people to put the candy to put into.. they look like the coffee bags.. for an additional price you can get them personalized or if it's more cost effective, get a stamp made.. you can use to personalize other stuff..
also, as for what kinds of candy, you can also do nuts and stuff like that.. you can get stuff from Costco..or BJ's
also, if you want to personalize the candy buffet to your guests faves, you can include a response card with your invites asking them what their favorite candy is? I think that would be a great surprise for them!!

Re: Yeah! I got my glassware for the candy bar!
Marcella,I have a few wholesale/bulk candy websites bookmarked (bulkfoods.com is one of them!
). No way around it, candy is expensive. I had about 8 items listed in my spreadhseet and I was already up to $400. Kevin was getting ready to can the whole idea because it definitely will get to $1000 or so (especially if I was to order the tiered plant stands.) I already have some boxes picked out. They're the natural tone and we'd probably get them personalized.
All I know is that candy necklaces are a must!!!!
(at least I know the girls in my bridal party will wear them!)
I already ordered & received the crystal/gem sugar for the urns (to stand lollipops in.)
I just have to figure out what I really want my theme to be, color or nostalgic?

Re: Yeah! I got my glassware for the candy bar!
There is a page about candy in the new Bride's Magazine. The sites they suggest using are:Candy Warehouse
Economy Candy
Jelly Belly
Euro Commerce
Keepsake Favors
Vermont Country Store
and
M&Ms Colorworks

Thanks for the websites girls!
M&M's Colorworks is definitely cheaper than the other website I was looking at!
