Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
actually on the beach, reception & all? There are a few towns that allow it but you have to bring everything in. I looked into it, but it became too difficult arranging lighting and toilets and worrying about weather. Some other options:
Crescent Beach Club
Atlantica (Westhampton beach club)
Sunken Meadow Pavilion
Jones Beach Boardwalk
Lands End
PJ Country Club

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
Well she wants something on the beach. She'd love to get married on the beach and have a follow up reception indoors. Thanks for an avenue to start. If you hae any other ideas let me know. I know I was at one that was on the north shore of Long Island 2 years ago, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the place :(
Thanks again and keep 'em coming

Lessings has a location on the beach. It's the Sunken Meadow Pavillion. Here is the web siteLessings
Go to Wedding Plans, and select 'The Pavillion'

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
Gurneys out in Montauk.Plus, if it is a pretty small wedding, the Stony Brook Yacht Club, which is private so does not advertise but anyone can do a wedding there, will do iton the beach in Stony Brook and then have it indoors in the club. Not too fancy, but very reasonable and kind of different/casual.
Old Field Club in Stony Brook too (but not directly on the beach).
hmm, that is it for now.

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
I originally booked the crescent beach club for my wedding, it is stunning for a beach wedding. But I loved Flowerfield, so I had to switch. The crescent is PERFECT for a beach wedding though!

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
I have a friend who was supposed to get married on the beach with a tented reception in Sag Harbor - I can't remember the name of the beach but Sag Harbor is not that big so I'm sure it wouldn't take long to research it. However, here's my cautionary tale - I say 'supposed to' because in the middle of June, Hurricane Alison showed up and between the tent completely flooding and the the torrential downpour, they had to move the location on the DAY OF. The poor bride was so stressed she wound up like the girl in 16 Candles popping one too many muscle relaxers!

Tell her to look at the cresent, have been to 2 weddings there and they were beautiful.the only downer with the cresent is that if it isnt nice out you are screwed.
but if its a nice day you will have a great wedding

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
I would look into renting out an estate on the beach, out east in the hamptons.. that would be beautiful! she can have it catered and even have the ceremony out on the beach.. what's best is that she and selected guests can stay there for teh weekend, so she can have a beautoful weekend wedding..the reason I am saying this is because usually you're better off renting it for hte weekend, which is how it goes, either a weekend or weekly rental..

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
Call Robert Moses, you need a permit to have the ceremony on the beach and then she can have the reception anywhere else, the only thing is what about plan B? What if it rains?

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
Dianne, how many people are you thinking of having? The reason I ask is that Crescent Club is stunning but I believe you need to guarantee 200 people. If you have a smaller party, I second the Atlantica - georgous.

Re: Suggestions on Location for Beach Wedding
Okay, so I'm another Atlantica bride and I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it - the views are unbelivable and it has a beachy yet elegant feel to the place. It was the first and ONLY place we looked at (I know, we;re nuts, but happy
