5th full Day Here in Mexico HM - With my Laptop! Excellence Playa Mujeres

Room 3401 Corner Unit with Roof top terrace! Can' t wait to get home to post picts! Just INCREDIBLE.

PS another bride did use the Spa (extra fees apply) they said it was wonderful!

PS Bring a few dvd's w/you, we had a half day of rain ...it came in handy....Your body will appreciate the the rest...LOL

PS Drinks: don't know why, but you can order the same drink all day, & the drink comes out different too many times.

PS Housekeeping: inconsistant: they offer a turndown service, they didn't do twice so far - this is also when you get your daily activity sheet...We did schedule the housekeeping service to make the room because they were coming too late.
We also had to request @ the front desk for some to fill the mini bar. They are supposed to do it every day.....3 days later I had to ask....I also sched. the jacuzzi to setup on Thurs for us b/w 7-8pm...lets see if they do.

PS They didn't set -up the sch. jacuzzi...

PS lotions - I already had a base tan & came with spf 50, 45, 30, & 15. My hubby went straight for the spf 15 - still got a little red....I have been using spf 30, & getting very dark...yesterday I guess I was in the pool so long my back did get red...a little sore.
Make sure you wear it! I've seen so many sunburned people here!

PS Private Taxi from the airport to hotel costs $80 w/o tip USD, you can bk thru excellence B4 you come - I think it was $70 each way...there is no comp shuttle.

PS I have no worries with the swine flue...I did buy travel ins. & booked thru Amex & paid w/Amex...
I met a bride that came in on Monday & said everyone at the airport was wearing masks.

PS Ladies with LONG HAIR: it is a MUST you need to prepare to wear it up...many of the restaurants are 'open-air' & being on the coast is very windy. Trying to eat, & not get you hair in your mouth is next to impossible.

PS you don't need outlet converters, hotel is 110V

1st Night Here: Last nights dinner - The Lobster House - ordered 4 appitizers: Loster soup, toasted bread w/lobster salad, Lobster salad (2 different kinds), then surf & turf one lobster was pan-fried OMG, & the other streamed (another couple said grilled was to dry)..w/3 dipping sauces.....key lime pie & carrot cake....drinks galore, banana daquari (?) maitai ? capp. w/liquour....I think this is going to to a 15 lbs -20lbs vacation LOL..

Day 1: .We ordered room service for BF - Fresh pappaya? & a special fresh drink all veggies: Catus, celery, OJ, Spinach, cucs I think (it's green) but very good, fruit, bagel...tried to keep it light this morning....
OK so the 'light BF' didn't work out like planned...when we got down to the pool for some capaccino hubby wanted to eat a real BF after he saw the food...So, at the Lobster House again (only 2 restaurants serve BF) I had great crepes w/fruit he had eggs....++ (it's a sit down BF w/menu)
Lunch - Lobster house Great tortillas & guag&salsa dip, I ordered a atlantic wrap (sauteed shrimp & scallops) & he had a roastbeef to die for carmellized onion & guyree? cheese sandwich. Drink of the day: Coco-Maya (Vodka, white rum, coconut cream, triple sec, granadine, lemonaide & Xtabentun)

Dinner: Agave (Mexican) apptzr: shrimp/scallops, callimare, & bread w/loaded cheese, beans, etc.dinner: Lobster pan fried w/veggies, dessert, coconut custard w/rasberry sauce, choc. ganache, kalau custard.

Over all food all day: Excellent!!!!

Day 2: BF @ Barcelona, unlike The Lobster House for BF, this is a huge buffet, everything under the sun I had lox, bagel, cream cheese, salsa, capers, toms & pan seared raw tuna (yes my BF). Hubby had traditional egg whites omlt, made to order...etc..
Lunch @ The Grill- Seafood Salsa, Hamburger, Seafood Quesadilla - Hubby said it was the best burger he ever had - ? OK, where do they get their beef from?
Drink of the day: Caribe Esmeralda (White rum, gin, peach liqueur, cocnut cream, pinapple juice, banana liqueur, & Blue Curazao.)

Met another bride from NJ, also rooftop terrace- a corner unit...they had to switch rooms because bugs were coming out of the drain in the bathroom. They switched her to a 2 story roof-top, she said it feel much smaller than a corner unit...

Housekeeping here - you can schedule the time DO IT, the other day we came in to shower for dinner & they were cleaing the rm. The other bride I met, asked the same thing...they cleaned her rm very late too.

We also noticed, they are not consistent with the drinks...you can order the same thing over & over...but the color may change ? But it still tastes great...

We also found out you can order your Jacuzzi to be set up for you w/rose petals...etc...we plan on sch. that in...

Dinner: The Grill (the steakhouse) OMG WHERE GO THEY GET THEIR BEEF FROM?? We had eggplant (a little bitter) pot. soup (exclnt) Filet Mignon (exclnt) Surf & turf (Tenderloin & Shrimp) all I can say is that is was the BEST steaks I ever had. Pina Colada, coffee w/kalua & zambuca WOW so good.

Overall food for the day: Excellent to Exceded expectations!

3rd Day BF @ Barcelona (Lobster House was closed - too windy) Buffet like yesterday

Lunch @ The Grill: Hamburger again (Hubby's addicted) & I had ceasar salad & replaced the grilled chicken w/grill shrimp.

Dinner @ Toscano (Italian) Carpaccio (LOVED) Fish Soup (GREAT), Lasagna (LOVED) Stuffed Calimare (very good, but the stuffing thru me off, it had a texture of a jellied pate) Tirimusu, & canoli

Drink of the day: Excellence Dreams: White tequila, triple sec, white rum, guava, pineapple juice, peach liqueur.

Food for the Day: Excellent!

4th BF @ Lobsterhouse - went overkill, eat wayyyy too much!
Lunch @ Barcelona (buffet style) was wonderful, I had them grill mussels, scallops, shrimp, salmon, callimare, grouper..& had oriental seaweed salad!
Dinner @ Chez Isabelle (French) escargot, Steak Tartar, Langistinos, Steak, Creme Brulee, choc. ?
All wonderful! (creme brulee could have been better, but if you never had it before, it still is very good!)
Food for the day: Excellent!

5TH BF @ Barcelona...ate the same thing...can't get enough of it.
Lunch @ The Grill - Love the seafood salsa & Farmers sandwich was very good too (vegg. foccica)
Dinner @ Spice (Asian) it was mixed...loved the hot appitizers (ordered all 3), my dinner Duck w/chili sauce I couldn't eat...it was too hot (spicy) & just ordered another appitizer. The meat dinner (forgot what kind) was a great sauce, but I thought the meat would have been more tender. The Fried Ice cream was cold , but the fried banana was GREAT!....So, mix reviews.
Over all food for the day: Very Good - Excellent.

OMG sounds amazing we are going there in a month!!! Is there any concern about the Flu at the resort?? I'm getting worried with all this news.
