As a guest, which day to you prefer for a wedding: Friday or Saturday night? ...and why?

Saturday because I am not rushed to come home from work and go to a wedding and then I do not have to rush home because I have work or I am too tired from a full day at work.

Saturday. Because if a wedding is on a Friday I have to take a day off of work or leave early, rush home, get dressed, fight traffic. At least on a Saturday I have a whole day to get ready I can leave early to compensate for traffic etc

I prefer Saturday so I can easily attend the ceremony without taking off of work and I can take my time getting there and getting ready.

But I would happily take the vacation day for a Friday wedding.

IMO Saturday night. I work in NYC, and there is no way I would be able to get to a church for a Friday wedding. Plus, I am exhausted most Fridays after a hellish week at work....I would be a lame Friday night wedding guest

Sat. because I dont have to worry about getting to the wedding on time or leaving work early. I also am more rested for a Sat. wedding b/c I can sleep in a little.

Saturday night is ideal but Friday night runs about $10 a head cheaper.......I chose Friday...why give the hall extra $$ just b/c it is the next night??????

If you can afford it, definately a Saturday (eventhough I'm getting married on a Friday lol). Saturday makes it much easier on the guests I think.

I would say Sat Night, even though for myself- we booked a Friday night (reasons behind that all). But as a guest, I prefer going to weddings on Sat Night. No rushing and everyone will be at the church. Most people can't make the church on a Friday night, unless they really want to be there for you.

I inquired because...

We booked a Friday but we're seriously thinking of changing it to a Sat - for the convenience of our guests. For me, spending almost $20 more per person (on a Sat) seems outrageous - since it's already expensive...but my SO is pushing for it, so he'll be picking up the extra tab(s).

(We're marrying at the place so the earlier time for a church doesn't apply to us)

Saturday because for the same exact reason as nylisa: I am not rushed to come home from work and go to a wedding and then I do not have to rush home because I have work or I am too tired from a full day at work. Many guests cannot take a day off from work if it's an afternoon ceremony as well. Chances are that there'll be more guests on Saturday than on a Friday night.

Saturday - same reasons as NYLisa, but I ahve been to many Friday weddings and the good thing is that you have the rest of the weekend.

Sometimes I am forced to miss the Church if I can't take 1/2 a day!

cp0329 - I would say that, yeah, a Saturday night is generally easier for more people, but, do what is best for YOU and your FI. My wedding is on a Friday night - also at the hall but we're starting it at 5:00. Some people may say (like a friend of mine last night) 'Why on a Friday, now I have to take time off.' You know what I told him - 'Well, that date worked better for me and Scott' And, if anyone dares to say anything to me at the wedding about how it was a problem for them, I'll tell them the same thing and that when they plan their wedding, they can pick the day that works best for them. If you're afraid people won't show up, well, there are days that are bad for everyone. My FI used to work Saturday nights so, a Saturday night wedding was a pain for him. But, do what you guys want and don't worry about everyone else - it's hard, I KNOW. I do it all the time. And, at $20 a person more, it adds up!! Good luck

Of course Sat night is the more convenient night, but if $$$$ is an issue then go with Friday.

I purposely chose a place where a Sat night wedding was affordable.
