Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
oneday...I agree with you - it's our choice. Unfortunately, we can't agree!
Apparently, money isn't an issue for us (according to SO
)...I guess for me it comes down to: we're getting the same food & service on a Friday for $20 less a person - it just makes logical sense to me. I'd rather put that money towards other things - like the honeymoon. But, whatever, it's such a small 'issue' that I'm going to relent. Thanks everyone, for your opinions...my SO will be overjoyed to see all your responses!

Grrrrrr, 9/5/04 was the day we *really* wanted...but it was already booked at the place we *really* wanted...so we switched it to that Friday of LDW.

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
I wouldn't mind eather day because u have so much time in advance to take off that day so your not rushing, the quests get the invite like 2 or 3 months before the wedding anyway. I'm getting married on a friday, no one will have a problem cause i sent out save the date magnets too so they have plenty of notice

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
Maybe im partial BC im getting married on a Fri. Night but still i've been to both, and i guess it depends on what type of an affair you want to have. But from my experiences people party much harder on Friday night, It kind is like a really elaborate happy hour
. And our families and friends are like Oh well an excuse to take a day off of work a day or 2 !!! We could of afforded Sat. Night at my place, but since were saving over $10pp we can add all the neat extras (ex. Viennese) that we would have to skimp on a Sat. Night. Keep the Fri. in the long run everything is easier to book (vendors) for a Fri than for a Sat. And out of towners will come because they love you, if someone feels that a Fri. wedding is inconvenient for them, then your probably better off without them there, the day is about you guys, and not how much of a hassle it is to them. If they love you they will be there!!!
Good Luck,
Vanessa

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
For obvious reasons as a guest I would choose Saturday BUT I am getting married on a Friday night. Price was definitely a factor. It doesn't affect my guest as much b/c we are getting married at the hall. Ceremony starts at 7:30, cocktail hour at 8 and reception at 9.

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
as a guest I like saturdays better, however, for us it was really not worth a few extra thousand dollars to do it on a saturday.

Friday night although the traffic is a pain in the neck. If you have people coming from out of town, if they want to do some sightseing, or having some extra fun they can stay the rest of the weekend and enjoy themselves.

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
As a guest I prefer SaturdayAs a bride, I say Friday! It is cheaper! Money was a big issue in our decision. We are on a tight budget!
But I am sure, nobody will complain about taking the day off on friday, or leaving early!

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
As a guest, I would go to my friends/family wedding whenever they decided to book it.It's your wedding! I think it's very sweet of you to take a poll and think of your guests. Just know, that the people who care about you and love you and WANT to share this day, w/out causing you extra grief and aggravation, will be there no matter when/what time.
I'm getting married on a Sunday, b/c we could not afford a Saturday. If some guests have to leave early b/c of work on Monday, so be it. I'll be there w/ my new hubby tearing up the dance floor till the bitter end. (I know our families and closest friends will be too)

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
Saturday... Friday wedding would require my bp to miss work, a day's pay, in some cases.. most people would come to the church, and people would be tired from rushing all day to get to my wedding....

Ditto the other remarks regarding not being too tired and having to rush and fight traffic.

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
I would have prefered a Saturday night, but it was way to expensive, and the minimum was higher.I went with a Friday....and LOVED IT!!!!!
Everyone who I didnt expect to come did come. They didnt make the church, but they had a great time at the reception.
I I could do it all over...I wouldnt change the date

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
I prefer Saturdays. I feel like I'm at that age where all my friends are getting married (I went to 7 or so weddings last year and have 11 this year). I don't have enough vacation time to miss days for the weddings. We were invited to a wedding on a Fri night this May and its a 2 1/2 hour drive away and the ceremony is at 5. B/c of that we probably won't go and I'm sad b/c I'd love to see them get married. I agree with the rationale that it is YOUR day and you can do what you want. However, I think taking into consideration the location of your guests is important. If all your guests are local, well then they can probably get away with leaving just a little early. If they're all out of state (like mine) then its harder to do a Fri. Would you consider a Saturday Day wedding? It would be cheaper than Sat night.

Definitely Saturday. If traveling this is more convenient. If not traveling I don't have to rush home to get ready.

Re: POLL: Friday or Saturday
My BP was going to take off the day before (Thursday) anyway...as I did for my sister's Friday wedding. The time frame for us would be 7:30 ceremony, 8p cocktail hr, 9-1 reception. We were also concerned that 1 might be late for people working all day.
You've all been really helpful so far, my SO appreciated everyone taking the time to respond - it gives us more to think about.
