Re: DETOX
I did a raw food detox for 3 weeks two summers ago. All I ate for 3 weeks was raw (uncooked and unprocessed) fruits and veggies. I ended up losing a lot of weight and really enjoyed it! It was def tough in the beginning but I became so used to it after a while. I plan on doing it again closer to the wedding. Good luck!

Yeah it's amazing! I contemplated trying to do it for good...maybe trying to have a 90% raw food diet or something...but I love meat too much!! I figured I will do it periodically as a detox. But my skin was sooooooo soft when I was on that diet. I thought that it was better to eat actual healthy fruits and veggies than just drinking those detox drinks that are out there.
I used to make these "green smoothies" that were soooooo good. Basically it's whatever fruit you want to have blended up in a blender with uncooked spinach. Adding a banana to the smoothie would make the drink so creamy. It sounds weird, and the drink is green, but it tastes soooo good and is so healthy for you (I think spinach is the most nutritious veggie). I used to have them for dinner.

Re: DETOX
Right now I am on the 14 day Acai Berry Cleanse...
Then I am going to do a strick veggies, fruits & grilled chicken diet.
I've done this diet before and lost over 50lbs so I plan to do the same again, except this time it will be a lifestyle change & not a diet because I am sticking with it for life, hopefully.

Where did you order the Acai Berry stuff from?? I know a few people who have been scammed with different products so I don't want to risk it.

It sounds good but do you get enough protein? I would be scared to exercise on the diet with no protein... unless this means I wouldn't have to exercise for 3 weeks...

That was the one thing I was concerned about as well. But from what I read they said that you can get enough protein from fruits and veggies. Also, some people have raw nuts (can't be roasted or anything, has to be raw)...which is also a great source of protein. Here is something from a raw food website. I don't know if this is accurate...if I were to adopt the raw food lifestyle I would be very concerned about making sure I had enough protein...but this is what some raw foodists are saying:
"The WHO (World Health Organization) says humans need about 5% of their daily calories to come from protein to be healthy. The USDA puts this figure at 6.5%. On average, fruits have about 5% of their calories from protein. Vegetables have from 20-50% of their calories from protein. Sprouted seeds, beans, and grains contain from 10-25% of their calories from protein. So if you are eating any variety of living plant foods, you are getting more than adequate protein. Numerous scientific studies have shown the daily need for protein to be about 25-35 grams per day. So if you ate 2,000 calories per day, and ate raw plant foods that had an average of 10% of their calories from protein, you would get 200 calories worth of protein, or 50 grams. This is more than adequate to support optimal well-being."

Re: DETOX
I did the "Master Cleanse," about a month ago. It's basically drinking a mixture of lemon juice, water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. It sounds weird, but it actually tastes pretty good and I wasn't really hungry at all. I did it for 10 days and lost 15 pounds. I haven't gained it back.

Re: DETOX
I used to do tons of detoxes!!!
My most intense was a 9 day fast: 3 days water, 3 days green juices, and 3 days smoothies. My intention was not weight loss, but I did lose about 10 lbs.
You need to keep recovery in mind though. They say the length or your fast is how long it will take you to recover from it (so 7 day fast = 7 day recovery).
My fast made me incredibly lethargic. I could not stand or walk for long periods of time and my thinking was clouded. I was also not able to eat normally for about 2 weeks follo wing the fast (my stomach had shrunk I guess and it took me some time to adjust to again to eating normal quantities of food again).
I gained the weight back but it took some time. If you are going to do it be sure that you finish the fast a week or so before your wedding so that you can actually eat (or eat without being sick). I could not imagine going straight from a fast to gorging myself at a wedding. It would have been impossible since a side of broccoli made me full!
Also your energy will not return right away either.. so you need to keep that in mind if your planning this close to your wedding.
I also have been wanting to try the green cleanse which is only green smoothies and fresh fruit. That sounds good and less harsher than my first fast. But I recommend doing them. It is a truly amazing experience that takes a great deal of will power and you feel very accomplished after.
The other poster mentioned the raw food diet.. I had done a raw food vegan diet for over a year. It was wonderful! And one of the best things I did for my health. Unfortunately, I was not able to maintain it for long ;) I think it is more of a short term rather than lifelong diet (and it is quite expensive).
