Help...Honeymoon ideas??

So we are getting married August 2010...and need some honeymoon ideas. We aren't beach people - i.e. sand+sun+pale complexion = major sunburn...

We think we want to leave the US - although haven't ruled out Hawaii completely or Alaska...

We have never been on a cruise, so we are not sure -

We want something different that we know we wont be able to do in the future, but at the same time want to be able to relax a little and not feel we have to run around and be tourists..we like the idea of exploring - mini adventures - just afraid if we go to a new land we wont know what to do once we get there....any ideas??!!!

Thank you!

Re: Help...Honeymoon ideas??

Oooh we're going to Ireland this spring! I've been there 4 times and my dad has a house there, but DH has never been and always wanted to go.

We went to France on our HM. Three different cities over 10 days. We started in the Alps in a beautiful lakeside town, then went to the south where we explored quaint towns and went kayaking/canoeing, then up to Paris. It was an amazing trip.

If you check out travelersjoy.com (which is where our HM registry was) you can also see others' registries and get lots of great ideas for HM adventures!

Re: Help...Honeymoon ideas??

How about a trip to Europe. Greece is also another popular HM location.

I would say, go somewhere you and FH have always wanted to go. A cruise to Alaska may be nice.

Re: Help...Honeymoon ideas??

I have a coworker who did this, she started in Seattle and did an Alaskan cruise. Maybe not for me (I wanted beach - we are doing Bora Bora and Moorea), but she loved it.

Re: Help...Honeymoon ideas??

I think a cruise is a good idea because you get to experience a few places and do a few excursions and then you can pick which one you really like and then go there for an extended period of time at another time.

We are going on a southern carribean cruise with Royal Carribean: Puerto Rico, Barbados, Antigua, St. Marteen, St. Lucia, and two other places I can't think of...I can't wait

ITA! Europe is beautiful and they have the options of beaches but you don't have to do that as there is so much other history to see. My FH and I took a train from London to Paris! It was great. I totally recommend Paris! But Europe is full of soooo many great choices, just look into some countries and see which style suits you two the most!

I wish I could go to Europe but we are getting married Nov 20 so it would be too cold. bummer! The south of France is my dream honeymoon!

Re: Help...Honeymoon ideas??

Fh and I so badly wanted to do the Alaskan cruise but we are getting married too late in the year so I think we are opting for Greece. Go for the cruise I've heard soo much good stuff.

Re: Help...Honeymoon ideas??

We are going to Europe but if you are looking for something really different, I wonder if you would be interested in a European River Cruise. My mom's a travel agent and this is something she's wanted to do FOREVER! It sounds so interesting and fun - relaxing because youare still on a cruise and sightseeing without worrying how you are getting from place to place. I'd love to do this - the Seine River cruises sound interesting, around Paris to Rouen and Honfleur. They have a variety of nights and destinations to choose from. Just an idea! http://www.eurorivercruises.com/Destinations/Itins.htm

Re: Help...Honeymoon ideas??

I agree with the ladies who say cruise!

You have sooo many option & you have the option to do NOTHING. If you want to sightsee you can and if you dont there are so many things to do on the ships you dont have to get off. I cruise often some times I spend a day on the ship doing activites.
