white gold engagement ring turning yellow!

white gold engagement ring turning yellow!

I have had my ring for over two years now and NEVER take it off. today I was looking at it and I noticed that the bottom of the ring is starting to have a yellow tint to it. i freaked at first thinking something was wrong, but I looked online and it seems to be a common problem? has anyone eles had this... from what i read there is no real white gold, its is an alloy of yellow gold and another silver metal and plated in rhodium. It starts to look yellow when the rhodium wears off. they says it is easly fixed by getting the ring dipped in rhodium again.

anyone eles have this problem?! or have any suggestions?!?!?

i had the same thing happen with a promise ring i had, but i never had it fixed...

You should be able to have your jeweler re-dip it for you.

My sister has had this problem on a number of her white gold pieces. They have to be dipped in rhodium - its the only fix from what I've been told.

there is no such thing really as white gold. white gold is yellow gold dipped in rodiam(sp) all you need to do is bring it to the jewler and they can redip it for you. I suggest redipping the rings right before the wedding so you band and your ering will be shinny.

go get it re-dipped at the jeweler... people do this year or every two years...i got mine done a few months ago and it still looks amazing

Mine hasn't started to turn colors yet, but I plan on getting it redipped before the wedding so that it will look better next to my wedding band in all the pictures. You can have it redipped at any time and it will as good as new, nothing to worry about

when mine started to turn a little bit, i took it to the jeweler, and she said that this happens a lot with white gold. she said that yellow gold is mixed in with it, and it happens sometimes. but she said sometimes people have a chemical in their skin that causes it to rub off on the ring turn yellow faster than normal.

Mine started to turn color a couple months after I got it. I brought it back to the jeweler where FH bought it, and they redipped it for free. It hasn't changed again since.
