Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
So I have been asking the CEO of a particular DJ company about the steps to take. This is after I put a 965.00 deposit 13 months in advance. He was a typical salesman before he got my $$$. NOw that I put a non-refundable deposit down, he responds to me with a few sentences. Am I being too sensitive; or does the last email have major attitude after I tell him that I am aware of my rights as a consumer? Be honest, what do you think?ME:

Hello,
I will be using your services for my upcoming wedding on May 1, 2010. I met with a representative at a Dowling College showcase on 3/29/09. I purchased a package and received a wedding song list via email. I must have accidentally deleted it. Can you please send me another one?
Also I wanted to know if it is typical for your customers to listen to the DJs in person. All we saw was a video, and I would like to see the DJ/MC staff members during an event, showcase, or at your facility.
Thank you,
DJ CEO:

Attached you will find your music sheets. Also our next performing showcase will be in October if you wish to see us, that is totally up to you.

Thank you
Is it typical for your clients to be able to choose their DJs and MCs? Do different DJs specialize in certain musical genres?

Not usually.

I would like to know when and where the next DJ/MC performing showcase is. I was unable to make the one in October.

Unforgettably there are no showcases to the middle of January do to the holiday season, Speak to you soon.

I would like to see who I will have as my DJ as well as my MC considering that I already put down a deposit which is almost half of the final price 13 months in advance. I know that **** is a large company, and employs many more people than the other entertainment companies in this area, therefore there are many DJs and MCs of varying levels of experience. I know that I am entitled to see the performance of the person that I am paying for in advance.

You have to wait until I get showcase info at the start of 2110.

Re: Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
At the very least a full sentence would be nice. I would think since there are no showcases coming up he would at least ask if you wanted to come to the office to see videos of the different MC/DJs for the time being/until they are able to come up with a schedule for the winter months.

Re: Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
that is annoying. my dj company let me come down and put on a show for just us. I mean every company is different. He could go about it in a nicer way. Try to make the best of it because you did pick him for your dj. Could you try to call on the phone-maybe the person who answers the phone would be a little bit more understanding. Just because they are the ceo doesnt mean they have any knowledge on the correct way to deal with people. sorry that happened to you

Re: Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
Eh he's a little short with you but it isn't awful. I disagree that you can't pick your djs/mcs usually. I know sometimes this happens where they just guarantee one to be there but usually they let you pick from who is available in my experience.

Re: Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
Yea, I am not enraged, but I feel that he is being a jerk now that he got almost 1/2 of the total cost. I will call the company this week. But if they give me a problem, the claws will come out!! LOL I will call my RH people who normally do business with this guy and express my frustrations to them as well. Maybe they can help. Who knows

Re: Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
Honestly, I wouldn't have been that put off by it... your questions were relatively to the point and he was able to answer them matter of factly. It's a good point that he might be answering from a mobile device. Could he hae phrased is differently? Probably. But I don't think he meant anything by it.

I was going to say the same thing! Before you get too worried, call them up or even better meet with them in person. they may have hundreds of emails, so try not to take it personally. See what they have to say in person first.

Re: Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
It's so hard to read tone on email! Even if he was on a mobile device, he could have gone above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. However, I would def call and get your answers right on the phone.
Also, I was told that I couldn't pick my DJ but I could request my MC.

Re: Email correspondence with DJ CEO: What do you think? Is he a jerk?
It does seem like he was short with you....I would like to know why he allowed you to keep asking questions via email and never once just called you or sent an email for you to call the office....that makes me think that he just did not want to take the time out for you. My next move if I were you would be to call them up and make an appointment to speak to this guy in person. You will be able to see if he has a negative attitude in person like he seems to have in the emails.

I would be a bit annoyed since he never really seems to answer your questions. His level of customer service is terrible. I would set up an in-person meeting.

'Unforgettably'? I think he meant to say regrettably?? Poor thing. lol.
It definitely sounds unprofessional but I dont think he is being a jerk. He should take more time to respond to a potential client but again thats just professionalism. I would call him.
