engagement party gift

What do you all give for engagment parties?

I always give money in the card. (I figure it helps out with wedding costs lol) However, I was just invited to one e party and she sent her registry cards. Should I buy something off the registry?

Re: engagement party gift

Yes, I would get something off her registry. At my engagement party we didn't tell anyone where we were registered and everyone called our families and asked. We got so much stuff off of it that by the time we get married we should be all set! We also got a lot of money which was great! I think either way they'll be happy!

Re: engagement party gift

I have to ask this question, albeit a little personal so sorry...

How much do you spend on an engagement party gift? I always figured around $50/person so $100 a person MAX. Thank goodness i have never been to an engagement party (believe it or not!) because at mine the average gift was $150 per couple from FRIENDS and even more from family. Now FH's friend is having an engagement party and I don't know what to spend...what do you think?

Re: engagement party gift

i think your best bet is to buy things off the registry. we just had our party and we loved opening presents especially from the registry. the one problem we did have was checks. try to make them out to cash or both people because we didnt have a jiont account yet and it was hard to cash checks in only one our names.
