Entirely Gluten Free Wedding

Hello! I am a newbie to the wedding world, just got engaged last thursday. We aren't planning it until at least 2012 but I want to get started as I have a special circumstance.

I have celiac disease and we want to do the entire wedding gluten free, which is simple minus the cake (and the mini gluten free pigs in a blanket).

Does anyone have any suggestions for venues? I have a few ideas for a Bakery but am lost on the venue. Obviously I don't want to get sick on the big day!

Re: Entirely Gluten Free Wedding

You can certainly ask. My sister is celiac and our RH made her a separate plate of CH gluten free food and dinner. I am sure you can have them make a gluten free CH. I think most places could make that happen

Re: Entirely Gluten Free Wedding

I am sure that any venue would be willing to accomodate you. However, you may want to consider having 'regular' food at the reception, and a special gluten free plate made for you...just seems like that might be an easier route to go...

This makes sense. It would probably be impossible for everything to be gluten free and still be abundant in choices for guests.

Re: Entirely Gluten Free Wedding

I am actually gluten free and dairy free and am not making my wedding free of either of those things..I want my guests to enjoy and love the food and never put my restrictions on anyone else. In fact I am amping up my food and all the food that I CAN'T eat because I want my guests to not stop raving about it. I am having a special meal made for me and a cupcake in replacement of my cake during cutting. There are enough items that a RH will make for the bride that day...Just a thought

ITA with the sentiment here! I am vegetarian, but will of course serve mostly food that I cannot eat at my wedding. I am sure a creative chef could charge a pretty penny to make a special GF menu for you and your guests, but I think you would be better off making sure there are accommodations for yourself by making sure that there is a GF choice for yourself and your guests (I would think this should be fairly easy for dinner--- salad course, veg+potato+meat, ice cream-based plated dessert... or better yet, ice cream sundae bar!).

ETA: My hall was especially accommodating for me and my picky vegetarian needs. My banquet manager said that they would prepare something entirely different than what is on the menu for me if I did not like the standard vegetarian offering (He even said, 'Heck, I'll make you tofu, I don't care!'.. I thought this was cute lol). He even offered to one of us a different salad than would be served to everyone else, when he noticed FH and I were disputing the salad choice.... just as an example of how halls often go out of their way for the bride and groom on this type of thing!

Re: Entirely Gluten Free Wedding

I am celiac also and was worried about cross contamination etc...I am getting married at Atlantis and they are being fantastic!! I told them we don't need the entire thing GF but the bridal suite must be and of course myself and my FH... They are being so accommodating...For the cake I am actually getting a small 2 tiered cake from an outside bakery rather then the traditional grooms cake--it is my brides cake :)
I did the 2 tier so I can still freeze the top of my cake to eat on my 1st anniversary....

Re: Entirely Gluten Free Wedding

You can check out East Wind. When we went for a tour they actually brought the subject up and asked if we needed any food cooked a particular way.
