Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
Hi Ladies,I know it's been a minute since I've posted but I'm looking at hotels for my out of town guests and I don't know what a reasonable rate is. I want to give my guest options but LI is not working with me on prices. The most decent price I got so far was like $129 a night for some place that isn't a Boatel Motel. I'm getting married in Freeport so I don't want my guests more than 15 minutes away. So I was thinking Garden City.
Ladies please provide me with some thoughts/feedback.

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
I'd suggest looking around everywhere! We looked at a bunch of hotels and they were all around $149 - but then we went to the Marriot and it was $119!! Of course, that's in Suffolk, so it's not much help to you really, but I think you might want to research - call up a bunch of places - look around to see the best deals. And make sure you check out the rooms too!Good luck!

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
Thanks I tired the Long Island Marriott and they wanted $145. I also have to take into account I'm getting married on a Holiday Weekend.
The Holiday Inn wanted $139
Best Western $139
Garden City Hotel $185-$210
Are the prices just more expensive in Nassau County?

I don't know would you think so? For Bulk Rates I would think the hotels would do you best cause you can get other free stuff, I'm not sure a travel agent would do all that. You think?

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
I got a thing from in and out travel and it said something about hotel rooms for guests, and they can even give good air travel rates... i haven't called yet to find out if its worth it.But they are supposed to give you better rates for groups of 10 rooms (wingate says that anyway)

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
the cheapest rate I got was $139...but thats because I'm getting married in June. It is UNBELIEVEABLE what these places charge for a night...
ETS: I went online to one hotel, put in my wedding date and came up with a rate of $149. Then I call and ask to block rooms and the creature I spoke to quoted me $211!
So tell your guests when in doubt...hotel.com!

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
Wingate is the best rate I've got.$129 a night.
And the lady there was really nice basically awesome. So I'm probably going to go with them and one not so nice. And my guest that don't want to pay that money are probably going to be at a not nice hotel.

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
I searched low and high for hotels and really good rates. I can offer you some input, but I am getting married on a Saturday night in June so that may have something to do with my prices...The Holiday Inn on Old Country Road quoted me something like $169 when I went in person and I flipped out because you can book online for ALOT cheaper. I didn't really feel like I was getting a discount.
Then I decided to call the Red Roof Inn. I was hoping they would be my cheaper option for a hotel and then maybe I would block somewhere else. But, they gave me $139. I mentioned the $99 rate on the front of the building and that is for one person. But again you may be able to get cheaper on the internet. I can not justify getting a group rate that is more than the regular rate.
I liked the Marriot in Uniondale alot. I think they were only able to give me an estimate when I went there because it was so early but I I think it was $169. But there is a sports bar there and I believe a restaurant. Of course the Garden City Hotel has a club and a bar, but the prices were very expensive for my guests. I would love to stay there though!! I did look at the Rosyln Claremount on Old Northern Blvd, but the woman I needed to speak to wasn't in and I didn't find the staff very helpful so I never went back. JMO. But it could have been who I met with. The East Norwich Inn in my opinion was a little to far for me but we checked it out. They gave us a very good price, but I didn't like that there was no elevator in the building. It is a small hotel.
I looked at the Fox Hollow Inn, but that was almost as pricey as The Garden City Hotel. But gorgeous!! Yet again though too expensive for my guests.
I ended up filling out the paperwork to block the Wingate Inn. I got a rate of $139. Which to me $139 at the Wingate is better than $139 at the Red Roof. At least your guests can eat breakfast. They really go above and beyond in my opinion. Plus, I felt they are a wedding type of hotel. They have direction cards to the hotel with maps and even had direction cards to the Westbury Manor. And when we met them they were the only ones that gave us a folder with bus info, layouts of all types of rooms, what is included in the price, etc... And the rooms are new and very nice.
Good Luck and FM me if you have any questions.

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I feel better today. I am not quite as stressed out you should have seen me yesterday I was freaking out just a bit.
I am going to select 2 hotels next weekend. I'm sure one will be the Wingate and the other well probably not as nice as the Wingate but cheaper. LI Weddings Rocks!
(P.S. So I'm goofy! )

Re: Help- What are reasonable room rates for out of town guests
I just want to make a suggestion in this area. We had a block of rooms booked at the Best Western in Riverhead for $139. FMIL called and asked about the Wyndham in Hauppauge, she had recieved a flyer that a room was $104. After a few phone calls, I got rates of $109 for the Wyndham and Marriott, both of which had previously told me $159, and $99 for the Best Western. Plus, Wyndam and Marriott offered the suites to me for the $109 rate. So make sure you double check and barter, I would have just gone with the original price, and not known any better...PS...sorry this is so long.
