Insulin Increase and, gulp, big baby!!!!

I started on insulin Thursday night and my levels started going down, but then went back up again, so I knew what the dr was going to say last night -- increase to 20 units!!!!!

First, let me say Joe took me and I was PRAYING that there would be no traffic and no long wait, and I'm very happy to say we didn't have either!!! He was a happy camper!! No Mr. Crabby Patty, thank God! Plus I made him eat before he picked me up!!!

Now the dr told me that everything is just fine with the Bear Cub, nice strong heartbeat, etc., but said he/she's going to be 'a big baby' and I went 'oh geez, how big?' and she said about 8-8 1/2 pounds!! Ok, that's not THAT big considering the size of our July babies, but that's just a guesstimate! Knowing my luck, I'll be having the biggest baby in the nursery!!!

But I don't care -- as long as my Baby Bear Cub is healthy, that's all that matters to me!!!!!

You can do it, Deb!! My gf had an 8 1/2 pounder a few months ago w/ no problems & she was not diabetic. Think positive!

What's happening with your car?! Are thinking about buying something newer yet? I've been worried/thinking about you since that rainy day incedent!

Aw, thanks Christine!!! My car needed an alternator, which is exactly what I told Joe I needed. It's all better and running like a dream! We're going to go car shopping after the baby -- I have too much to do before. Maybe if we finish the 'house' stuff early, we'll go before.

No matter what size this Bear Cub is, it's coming out, so I can't worry about it! So much for me having a small baby like I was and Joe was. I was actually a preemie, born 7 1/2 weeks early! Not that I look like I could've been a preemie!

I was an 8 pounder Deb ... and I was the lightest. If my Mom can handle it, so can you!!!

Today I feel like I'm carrying around a 20 pounder, so who knows what size this Bear Cub is going to be!!! I just might be giving all you 9 lbers a run for your money!!!

Oh imagine Joe's face when he sees gigunda baby!! He'll pass out for sure!!

Sorry Cira, no Joe stories this time -- he was well fed and extremely happy since there was no traffic and no wait!! Maybe next week I'll get the crabby Joe back again!

Although this morning he had the nerve to tell me I was a bed hog last night!!! I HARDLY SLEPT last night, and was up and down with leg cramps. And when I climbed back into bed, guess who I had to nudge out of the way? One hint, it wasn't the milkman!

Deb I have only been checking my blood for a week now and I am unable as of yet to keep my sugars down in the morning also How far above were your #'s before they put you on insulin? I have a Dr's appt. on Thurs. w/another sono. But I was wondering what your levels were for your Dr. to put you on insulin Thanks for your help

Deb, I'm sorry about the insulin increase!

You can definitely handle an 8.5 lb baby! Look at me - I was a preemie, born 3 MONTHS early and I am a petite Mommy and Paul was 8 lb. 11oz.

You'll be fine and Bear Cub will be wonderfully healthy - no worries!

Thanks guys!! My friend had a 10 1/2 pounder 2 years ago, so if she can do it, so can I!

Stacey, your fasting levels in the morning should be between 60-90. Mine have NEVER gone below 90 and still haven't. The closest I got was yesterday at 93 and today it jumped back up to 99. They put me on the insulin after 2 weeks of monitoring it with the glucometer. And after 3 days of being on 16 units of insulin with no decrease, they upped me to 20 units. Yesterday it finally went down to 93, but today it jumped back up to 99, so if it doesn't go back down by tomorrow, I'll have to call and will probably be increased again.

I honestly just don't get it and there's nothing I can do, so I'm more then convinced now that I'm having a ! She's giving me stress and agita already!

I go back to the diabetic nurse tonight, so I'll see what she tells me about the whole thing. I'm telling you, this is typical me -- nothing ever goes the way it's supposed to!!!

C'mon! 8.5 pounds is nothing! You'll have that baby and be walking around socializing in no time!!

You're right... a HEALTHY baby is the main concern! Don't worry about your levels. You're doing the best that you can, and no one can ask for more than THAT!

Deb my levels are never below 90 also in fact I'm having trouble getting them below 120 in the morning I guess I will find out tomorrow at the Dr. Thanks again
