the girls who did non floral centerpieces

for example, candelabras, hurricane lamps, candle garden...

how did the guests like the centerpieces? did they mind it wasnt a fresh floral one? what was the centerpiece

(just wondering cause my mom seems to think that it HAS to be fresh flowers, but im not sure what i want to do yet)

Re: the girls who did non floral centerpieces

my FILs make pottery, so they are designing two level vase-type containers for us which we will be filling with water and floating flowers in (only like 2 or 3) and maybe some petals on the table.

Re: the girls who did non floral centerpieces

I went to a wedding recently that had hurricane glasses filled half way with those glass marble/stone kind of things, with a big pillar candle in the middle, and water filled almost to the top of the candle. They also scattered rose petals around the table. I thought they were beautiful, and everyone I spoke to loved them.

I am using candelabras. I am not a big fan of flowers.

aliasPook,
Do you have a picture of your arrangement? I also wanted candelabras.

Re: the girls who did non floral centerpieces

My cousin's wedding had 3 white pillar candles of different heights with red rose petals strewn around the candles. It looked so elegant!

Re: the girls who did non floral centerpieces

Julybaby,
Would you happen to know which florist she used? I saw a sample at a bridal show by Flowers by Brian. I want to use alot of pillar candles, because I can hopefuly save alittle more than using all flowers.

Re: the girls who did non floral centerpieces

I haven't seen this done myself, but I am thinking of it as well. There is a picture of mostly candles with a few scattered flowers on bellefleurny.com. (Belle Fleur is crazy $$$ - like $5,000 and up for a wedding).
