HELP! I need to pick a reception hall on a budget!
My FI and I just realized how much this wedding will cost us. Our parents are helping, but not too much. We don't want to start our marriage paying off our wedding. Any suggestions of nice reasonable places to get married- we are trying to be creative (restaurants, parks, etc.) so any suggestions would be welcome! We are looking for places under $80/pp (the lower the better). What's important is who is there and that at the end of the day we will be married!

There are plenty of places you can have your wedding at for the price you are looking for. Off the top of my head, I am thinking Huntington Town House. Talk to Alvatorre74, she is getting married there next month. I'm sure all these lovely ladies will help you immensely!

The Meadow Club in Port Jefferson - they are a vendor here (and I had my reception there as well)The Manor East in Massapequa I believe is also under 80 per person depending on the package.
This might help you as well - it's like a reception hall finder and it gives you the price range and capacity.

Re: HELP! I need to pick a reception hall on a budget!
A friend got married at the Riviera (in Massapequa?) this past March. She planned the wedding in about 3 months...and her price pp was $63. The food was GREAT, the service was great and the place is really pretty - right on the water...they had a beautiful day so she had an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour.I've heard that if you can plan a wedding in 6 months, you'll get great deals at the reception halls. Also, the time of year and day that you want to get married on changes the price.
Good luck!

Look at the Stewart Manor COuntry Club. They are like $75 pp(+ tax and grat) but they include centerpieces which is a huge expense.

Re: HELP! I need to pick a reception hall on a budget!
You can check out either Stewart Manor Country Club which runs about $65 a head, or any Scotto Brothers hall. Keep in mind that the time of day and season you get married in will affect the price. If you get married in the afternoon or on a Friday night it can be almost half the cost of getting married at night. Also, if you pick an off season month like November or March, you can get a good deal, too. Good luck!

Re: HELP! I need to pick a reception hall on a budget!
We are paying $53 pp (before tax!!) for March 6th 2004. We got locked in at this price...there will be an increase because they are renovating in the beginning of February. I see that you have August as your date...that's a major factor.....maybe you want to consider one of the less expensive months?? I suggest trying any of the Lessings' places (Timber Point CC, West Sayville CC, Smithtown Landing)....floral centerpieces are included, cake included, open bar for the 5 hours included (I'm sure if you cut this or anything, they would deduct $$). We are doing it at Timber Point and we are working with Ben....he's great! Let us know what you decide.....oh and a co-worker had his wedding at the Brentwood Country Club and the quote I got from them is a package deal: you get invites, limo,video/dj,cake,flowers,photographer for the price and if you choose to go with your own person, they deduct money.Good Luck!

I am getting married at Coral House. It is a lovely place and the price is right you can def get something for under $80. The food is excellent and the gratuities are included in the price.
The only thing that may bother you is that it is a multi function place.

Re: HELP! I need to pick a reception hall on a budget!
Try picking a time of year, day of the week, that are off peak (like Fri. night or a Sat. day or a night in Nov. or Jan.). You can get a hell of deal by doing that. Also, if you can pull it of, if you call places and are willing to book in under 8 months, they'll usually give you a heck of a deal too b/c they know they either book you or the place will be empty if they still have a free slot (that's how we ended up being able to do it at the Harrison House for well under their normal cost and under their normal minimum).
One thing it took me six months to learn. Call places slightly above your price range if you're interested in them (actually we called some well above our range and ended up booking one of them). But, DO NOT call and say 'how much does it cost for...'. Call and say 'this is my budget, can you work within it?'. It will get you a LOT further. Places that told me they were originally outside of my budget suddenly were able to work with me based on my budget and because we were flexible w/time of day and date.
good luck. You can do it.

One suggestion,You could always do Central Park and then a restaurant like Moran's. Or, try the Pavilion at Sunken Meadow.

Re: HELP! I need to pick a reception hall on a budget!
Port Jefferson Country Club is well within your price range, and it is diff. than the typical hall. We really liked it, but ended up marrying elsewhere. Also, Danford's in Port Jefferson is an option for you too, and that's a restaurant not a hall.

Re: HELP! I need to pick a reception hall on a budget!
I am having my reception at the Knights of Columbus and Im paying 35 per person- plus tax and grat. they have higher packages but we got deluxe cocktail hour with pasta station and carving- plus 4 hour reception full open bar- all the things that the other catering halls offer -I am very picky about how my food tastes and I went to a showcase (at marconi manor- east islip- they offer the same package) and the food was fresh and good the same person caters to marconi manor and a few area KOC-if you want more info FM me-The Huntington Townehouse is reasonable but they kill you with the service charge- also the Brentwood Country Club is a great spot-I have been to 3 weddings there and the food and service is awesome- Ariana Waterfall is a beautiful place and they are reasonable also - but they also get you at the end with the service charge- Well if you need any info FM me- because I am on a budget also GOOD LUCK

I'm getting married on a Saturday afternoon in June at Westbury Manor for $80 pp, before tax. Off months should be less expensive.
