Re: MAUI - Four Seasons or Grand Wailea???
I stayed at the Grand Wailea and was happy with my choice of that over the 4Seasons. Both are great hotels but they have totally different feels to them.Grand Wailea was more lush - lots of greens - how I imagine Hawaii. The pools are awesome and fun. The service was great. The rooms were good. Not one complaint. I went during the slow time though - I heard the hotel was only at like 30-40% occupancy (last October!). That was great for us - not sure how it is in peak season.
I went to dinner at Spago in the 4Seasons and I also went and walked the grounds during the day. (the hotels are next door so you can easily walk back and forth) The hotel is fabulous but I was glad I chose GW. The 4Seasons is very classy and elegant but seemed a little too stiff (not sure if right word - maybe yuppie for me). I was wearing shorts and a tank over my bathing suit in the day and I felt so under-dressed. I felt like people at the pool were all decked and classy whereas I like being causal and comfortable by the pool. At night, I felt the snobbiness. I also had a friend who stayed there and recommended that I go to the GW instead becaues he wished he did and we are very similar so I went with his advice. When he went he said there was a lot of people (4Seasons) there on business trips - not just honeymooneres and vacationers. Although on the flip, several of my husband's co-workers went there and loved it - said they felt super pampered!
Both are great hotels and I don't think you can go wrong with either. If you have questions about GW - send me a FM!

Re: MAUI - Four Seasons or Grand Wailea???
I just got back from my Hawaiin honeymoon and I stayed at the 4S in Maui. We went in July so if you are planning to go to Maui in the summertime I would say to stay at the 4S. The GW was packed with kids and it was so noisy and chaotic by the pools and CROWDED. So we were happy to be at the quiet romantic 4S for our honeymoon. However we were not thrilled with our mountain view room at all! So if you stay at the 4S make sure to get at least a partial ocean view room. Our room was above a parking lot and right off of the highway so it was bad. On the up side the service at the 4S is spectacular!

Re: MAUI - Four Seasons or Grand Wailea???
I am staying at the Grand Wailea in Maui for my honeymoon in September! I can't wait to go
We chose the Grand Wailea based on those pools- if you are into river pools with swim-up bars, slides and grottos, I saw go for the GW.
I also hear fantastic thinsg about the Four Seasons (I mean, what's not to love) but that's more formal. I think either way you will be happy - they are next door to eachother and share the same stretch of Wailea beach. Good luck!
52 days and I am there!!
PS_ my travel agent has been to the FS and the GW and said that sicne we are going in Sept we will have no problem with the kid factor.

Re: MAUI - Four Seasons or Grand Wailea???
We are planning our March Hawaii Honeymoon also! We've pretty much decided on the Four Seasons. I've asked around a lot -- including asking a TV travel expert who I know thru work and someone who lives on Maui-- both immediately answered 'Four Seasons' when I asked where we should stay.My question--are any of you planning on stopping in Oahu to visit Pearl HArbor? FH and I feel like since we're flying all the way out there, we really shouldn't miss the oppty. But we're not sure if we should stay on Oahu a couple of days, or just make a day trip from Maui.
Is anyone else planning to work in a Pearl Harbor visit?

Re: MAUI - Four Seasons or Grand Wailea???
We just booked our honeymoon and are staying at the Four Seasons. FI has stayed at the GW and sayed it was amazing. I saw on the travel channel that it was rated the best resort in USA for 2001 or 2002...dont remember. We decided on the Four Seasons so FI can stay somewhere different. ALso I like all that I read about the rooms, service and pampering. I love being treated like a Queen for a week.
